Former LSU football star Kyren Lacy is dead as authorities in Houston say he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a police chase on Saturday night. Law enforcement were in pursuit of Lacy after he fired a gun into the ground during a verbal argument with a female relative. When Harris County Sheriff deputies caught up with him, Lacy had crashed his vehicle and he was dead inside. A handgun was found in the vehicle. Lacy was 24-years-old.

The third ranked LSU baseball team was swept by Auburn for the first time since 1988. The Tigers hit just .187 for the series. ULM won a baseball series over the Ragin Cajuns for the first time since 2012. Louisiana Tech lost to Middle Tennessee four to three yesterday to fall a half game back of Western Kentucky for first place. McNeese is tied with Houston Christian for first place in the Southland after sweeping UIW. The Cowboys have the longest winning streak in the country at 12 games and they are at LSU tomorrow night.

An awful Pelicans season is finally over as New Orleans lost to Oklahoma City yesterday to finish the year 21-61, the second worst season in franchise history. There’s a lot of buzz that head coach Willie Green could be fired, but Jose Alvarado says that would be unfair considering all of the injuries…

LSU baseball’s nine game winning streak came to an end last night as the Tigers lost to the Auburn Tigers eight to four. LSU sophomore left-hander Kade Anderson suffered his first loss of the season as he allowed six runs. And former LSU pitcher Sam Dutton was outstanding for Auburn. Dutton threw six shutout innings, allowed three hits, two walks and struck out seven.

Louisiana Tech maintained its half game lead for first place in Conference USA with a five to four win over Middle Tennessee. Freshman Trey Hawsey homered twice, Eli Berch drove in three runs and Luke Cooley was the winning pitcher.

The Ragin Cajuns thumped U-L-M nine to three. Conner Higgs homered and drove in three runs. Lee Amedee also drove in three runs and Chase Morgan was the winning pitcher. U-L Lafayette remains a game out of first place.

Big news broke on Friday afternoon involving the Black and Gold as Saints starting quarterback Derek Carr might not play in 2025. The NFL Network is reporting Carr has a shoulder injury and he might need surgery. Former Saints quarterback and WWL’s Bobby Hebert says Carr’s injury could open the door for Spencer Rattler, who is entering his second season…

The Saints have the number nine pick in the first round of the draft and could take a quarterback.

Former LSU Tiger Patrick Peterson will officially retire from the NFL on Monday. Peterson will sign a one-day contract with the Cardinals so he can retire with the team that drafted him. Peterson played ten seasons in Arizona and during his 13-year career, Peterson was an eight-time Pro Bowler. He did not play in 2024.

Playing without their top six players, the Pelicans suffered their worst loss in franchise history last night, as they were scorched by the Heat 153 to 104. It’s also the most points the Pels have allowed in a game.

For the second straight week, the third ranked LSU baseball team is on the road to face another team ranked in the Top 10. Ninth ranked Auburn has won three of its four SEC series this season. But they are probably missing center fielder Chris Stanfield. Stanfield has excelled at LSU this season after two years at Auburn. He’s been solid in centerfield and is batting .327 in the nine-hole. Stanfield is looking forward to seeing his old teammates….

LSU football will hold an open practice tomorrow in Tiger Stadium as spring practice is winding down. The Tigers return only one starter on the offensive line, and that’s center DJ Chester. Chester has been the first team center throughout spring practice despite competition from Virginia Tech transfer Braelin Moore. Chester says he feels much more comfortable at center this season…

The third ranked LSU baseball team goes after its tenth straight win tonight when they visit Auburn. The Tigers rank sixth in the country in batting average and they are doing it with a line-up that looks a little different every game. Jake Brown, Ethan Frey, and Josh Pearson are sharing playing time in right field and at designated hitter. Coach Jay Johnson credits how they were raised for their selfless attitude…

Good pitching matchup tonight as Kade Anderson makes his first start since his complete game shutout against Oklahoma. Former LSU pitcher Sam Dutton will start for Auburn. He threw seven shutout innings against Alabama last week.

Louisiana Tech baseball is on the road this weekend. The Bulldogs have a half game lead over Western Kentucky for first place in the conference standings. Tech is at Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders have lost four in a row.

McNeese has won nine in a row and the Cowboys at UIW. Northwestern State has won five straight Southland Conference Series and the Demons begin a three-game series tonight against league-leading Houston Christian at Husky Field.

LSU has its open spring practice in Tiger Stadium on Saturday. Former Alexandria Senior High star Jacobian Guillory is back practicing in full pads after suffering a season ending Achilles injury seven months ago. Guillory says the rehab has been difficult, but he’s feeling good now…

Kade Anderson will start for LSU. The sophomore left-hander is coming off a complete game shutout where he struck out 14 and threw 135 pitches.

In other action this weekend, the Ragin Cajuns are at ULM. Louisiana Tech is at Middle Tennessee. McNeese takes a nine-game winning streak to UIW, Southeastern is at A-and-M Corpus Christi and Northwestern State is at Southland leader Houston Christian.

English golfer Justin Rose is the leader after the first round of the Masters. Rose shot a 65, seven-under par and leads a host golfers by 3 shots, including 2024 Masters champ Scott Schefler. Former LSU golfer Sam Burns shot a one-over 73 and is in good shape to make the cut.

The Pelicans only had eight players available last night and lost to the Bucks 136 to 111 in their final road game of the season. New Orleans hosts Miami tonight and Sunday they host Oklahoma City in the regular season finale.

ULM football wrapped spring football last night. Coach Bryant Vincent says 90-percent of his roster participated in spring practice. Last year it was only 40-percent, so he’s feeling good about year two in Monroe…

The NFL draft begins two weeks from tonight. ESPN’s Mel Kiper has New England taking former LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell with the fourth overall pick. Kiper has the Saints selecting a quarterback in the first round, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders with the ninth overall selection.

The LSU men’s basketball program has signed five players out of the transfer portal and according to 247sports.com, it’s the fourth best transfer portal class in the country. Coach Matt McMahon said on Tiger Rag Radio they still might add one more player…

Thomas is ranked as the fifth best point guard in the portal after averaging 15 points and four assists a game at UNLV last season.

For the first time since 2020, Louisiana Tech baseball has swept the season series against in-state rival U-L Lafayette. The Bulldogs defeated the Cajuns 10 to 7 last night after beating the Cajuns in Lafayette last week. Coach Lane Burroughs team has won 12 of its last 16 after playing .500 baseball through the first 17 games of this season…

Louisiana Tech, who is in first place in Conference USA, will try to stay hot this weekend as they visit Middle Tennessee.

The Cajuns are at ULM this weekend. U-L Lafayette will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak, while the Warhawks won two games over Northwestern State this week.

 

LSU men’s basketball has added five players from the transfer portal and its roster currently stands at eleven players. Five of them are six-foot-nine or taller. Coach Matt McMahon says that was the goal, get bigger, which is why they signed six-foot-nine Marquel Sutton from Omaha and former Mississippi State starting center Michael Nwoko…

The New Orleans Pelicans play their final road game of the season tonight as they visit the Bucks. The Pels have lost four in a row and they have the fourth worst record in the NBA.

For the second straight Wednesday, Louisiana Tech defeated the Ragin Cajuns on the baseball diamond. Last night the final score in Ruston was ten to seven. Colton Coates drove in three runs and Brody Drost had three hits and drove in two runs. Conor Higgs hit his 11th home run in a losing cause.

McNeese won its ninth straight last night as the Cowboys went on the road to beat Houston four to three in ten innings. Conner Westenburg scored the winning run and Jake Blackwell was the winning pitchers. McNeese is now 24 and 5 and its there best start to a season since 1991.

ULM beat Northwestern State for the second straight night as the Warhawks bullpen pitched well in a five to two win. Isaiah Walker homered and drove in two runs and Holden Hess allowed one run over four innings for the win.

LSU men’s basketball coach Matt McMahon told Tiger Rag Radio he’s thrilled with his transfer class haul. Thanks to a substantial increase in NIL dollars to build a better roster, McMahon signed five players out of the portal. The coach says he loves all of the new additions but he’s really excited about former UNLV point guard Dedan Thomas Junior who chose the Tigers over Kentucky and Florida…

Former Alabama and LSU coach Nick Saban has been added to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame 2025 Induction Class. Saban was elected to the Hall in 2020, but the ceremonies were postponed because of Covid and Hall Chairman Doug Ireland says they had to wait to honor Saban until he retired. Ireland says Saban is excited to spend the last weekend in June in Natchitoches…

LSU continues its seven-game road trip on Friday as they open up a three-game series against Auburn on the Plains.

McNeese tries to win its ninth straight game tonight as the Cowboys visit Houston. The Cowboys are 23-5 overall, while the Cougars are 18-and-13 after beating Rice last night.

ULM beat Northwestern State six to five in ten innings last night and the same two teams play tonight in Natchitoches. Louisiana Tech hosts the Cajuns.

 

It was just six months ago when LSU defensive tackle Jacobian Guillory went down with a season-ending torn Achilles tendon. On Tuesday, Guillory was on the practice field and participating in drills in full pads, which is a significant milestone in his recovery. Zack Nagy of LSU Tigers on Sports Illustrated says Guillory will be an important piece to LSU’s defense next season…

Former LSU quarterback Rickie Collins has won the starting quarterback job at Syracuse. Collins is a former four-star recruit from Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge. Collins spent two seasons at LSU and transferred to Syracuse following the 2024 campaign.

Former Sulphur star Jake Brown tied the game with a two-run single and Chris Stanfield gave the Tigers the lead with a two-run single. Freshman right-hander William Schmidt pitched four shutout innings out of the bullpen for his fifth win of the season.

ULM also had a come from behind victory last night as the Warhawks rallied from three down to beat Northwestern State six to five in ten innings. Henry Garcia hit a walk-off single.

Two errors in the seventh inning cost the Ragin Cajuns last night as they lost to UTRGV nine to seven and Southeastern Louisiana topped Tulane seven to three.
