LSU standouts Joe Burrow and Ja’marr Chase will make their first return to the Superdome since the 2019 national championship. Saints Coach Dennis Allen says he knows the duo are Louisiana sports legends, but he’s still counting on the home crowd to be there for the Saints this Sunday…

The Pelicans are signing Baton Rouge native and former LSU Tiger Javonte Smart. The guard averaged 13 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists over 3 seasons with the Tigers, and was three-time Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year at Scotlandville. Smart signed with Miami as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and appeared in 17 games with the Bucks and Heat last season. He will now have his chance to earn a spot on the Pelicans already deep 20-man roster.

LSU True Freshman Linebacker Harold Perkins didn’t see the field much as the Tiger’s defense struggled to slow down Tennessee’s up-tempo offense. LSU Coach Brian Kelly says they recently moved Perkins to strong side linebacker and that particular position didn’t fit well against the Volunteers spread offense attack…

There’s a new number one in the Class 4A Louisiana Sportswriters Association prep football poll after Westgate’s loss to Teurlings Catholic Rebels. Lafayette Christian takes over the number one spot ahead of their matchup against the undefeated Rebels this weekend.

LSU is preparing for its annual matchup versus Florida. The Tigers gave up 263 rushing yards against Tennessee and the Gators are another team that can run the football well. Coach Brian Kelly expects better results in Gainesville…

The Ragin Cajuns play tomorrow night versus Marshall. It will be U-L Lafayette’s first game since October 1st. Coach Michael Desormeaux says the break came at a good time….

The Saints win over Seattle was the best game the offense has put together. But Coach Dennis Allen was not happy with the two turnovers…

The Saints suffered some more injuries on Sunday. Wide receiver and return specialist Deonte Hardy has a turf-toe injury, cornerback Marshon Lattimore went down with an abdomen injury and rookie receiver Chris Olave suffered a concussion. We’ll know more about their status for this Sunday’s game against the Bengals when the injury report comes out tomorrow.

Lafayette Christian is the new number one ranked team in Class Four-A. The Knights are 5-and-1 with victories over Acadiana, Jesuit and Avoyelles. Westgate was number one, but they lost Teurlings Catholic last Friday. The 7th ranked Rebels are 6-and-0 and visit Lafayette Christian this Friday.

It was a tough day for the offense, defense and special teams in LSU’s 40-13 loss to Tennessee on Saturday. Two bad plays by the special team’s units led to a quick 10-nothing Volunteer lead. LSU’s offense couldn’t keep pace. Coach Brian Kelly says they moved the ball well until they got in the red zone and there were also three failed fourth down tries. Kelly is looking at how they can be more successful on situational downs…:

LSU visits Florida this Saturday. The game kicks off at 6pm. The Tigers found out yesterday its game versus Ole Miss in Tiger Stadium on October 22nd will kick off at 2:30pm.

The Saints are off today, and we’ll find out tomorrow if Jameis Winston can return to practice after missing the last two games with back and ankle injuries. Coach Dennis Allen likes the production he’s getting from Andy Dalton…:

New Orleans hosts Joe Burrow and the Bengals this Sunday for a noon kickoff.

ESPN is reporting that the New Orleans Pelicans have signed former LSU and Scotlandville star Javonte Smart. In three seasons as a Tiger, Smart averaged 13 points per game and 3.5 assists.

Tulane’s Macon Clark was named the AAC defensive player of the week. Clark had a game-high nine tackles in the Green Wave’s 24-9 win against East Carolina.

It was also a big game for Alvin Kamara, who had 6 catches for 91 yards. He also rushed for 103 yards. Quarterback Andy Dalton says it was good to get Kamara going after missing a couple of games with a rib injury…

Dalton also had a good game in the place of the injured Jameis Winston. He threw for 187 yards and a touchdown and an interception

Saints defensive back Marshon Lattimore suffered an abdominal injury in the the victory. Coach Dennis Allen said today that tests done on Lattimore found nothing serious, but how he responds this week will determine his availability for Sunday’s home game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Tennessee was the much better football team on Saturday as they trounced LSU 40-13 in Tiger Stadium…..

LSU will now get ready to visit Florida this Saturday at 6 PM. The Tigers next game at home is October 22nd against Ole Miss and the SEC announced that game will kick-off at 2:30.

Conference USA named defensive back Myles Brooks as its defensive player of the week. Brooks returned an interception for a touchdown in the Bulldogs 41-31 win over UTEP on Saturday.

The Saints needed someone to step up to end their three-game losing streak and Taysom Hill turned out to be that guy as he ran for three rushing touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass to Adam Trautman. It was a breakout game for the Saints offense after scoring only 49 points during a three-game losing streak. Hill led a rushing attack that produced 235 yards

In other NFC South news….the Buccaneers beat the Falcons 21-15 and the Panthers lost to the 49ers 37-15. Today Carolina fired head coach Matt Rhule as he went 11 and 27 in three seasons in Charlotte.

Tennessee moved up to number six in the latest A-P Top 25 poll after convincing 40-13 victory over the LSU Tigers. The Bayou Bengals played the game without starting left tackle Will Campbell, who watched the contest from a hospital bed. The school says Campbell had to be hospitalized because he was dehydrated. Coach Brian Kelly didn’t add much more information…

Hopefully, Campbell will be ready for this Saturday’s game in the swamp as LSU visits unranked Florida this Saturday for a 6 PM kick-off.

Louisiana Tech is off to a 1-0 start in Conference USA Play as the Bulldogs defeated UTEP 41-31. Good game for Bulldogs quarterback Parker McNeil who threw for 266 yards and four touchdowns and McNeil is the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Offensive player of the week. This Saturday the Bulldogs are at North Texas. The Mean Green are off to a 2-0 start in Conference USA Play after beating Florida Atlantic 45-28 on October 1st.

The Saints are now 2-and-3 after snapping a three-game losing streak tied for second in the NFC South with Atlanta, who lost to division leader Tampa Bay. The Bucs improved to 3-and-2 with a 21-15 win. Leonard Fournette had two touchdowns.

A lot went wrong in LSU’s 40-13 defeat to Tennessee on a sunny afternoon in Tiger Stadium. The Tigers got behind quickly as Jack Bech (Besh) mishandled the opening kick-off and Tennessee recovered which led to a touchdown a few plays later. And The Volunteers went up 10-0 after kicking a field goal that came after a long punt return. Coach Brian Kelly says it’s an area they keep trying to get better at

In other action on Saturday, La Tech jumped out to a 20-3 on U-TEP and beat the Miners 41-31. ULM lost to Coastal Carolina 28-21, Nicholls finally got a win as they edged Houston Christian 19-17 and Northwestern State’s rally at Eastern Illinois came up short, 35-27.

A match-up of two teams in the Top 25 is set for an 11 AM kick-off in Tiger Stadium on Saturday as 25th ranked LSU hosts 8th ranked Tennessee. Tigers Coach Brian Kelly wants to see quarterback Jayden Daniels be more aggressive in pushing the ball down field. Daniels says he wants to give his wide receivers a chance to make plays….

LSU is averaging 36 points a game, but might need to score a few more than that as Tennessee is averaging almost 49 points a game.

ULM is only averaging 20 points a game as they get set to host Coastal Carolina at 7 PM. An hour earlier over in Ruston, Louisiana Tech kicks-off Conference USA Play by hosting UTEP. Grambling is on the road again as the Tigers are at Alabama A-and-M for a 1 PM kick-off.

Saints Coach Dennis Allen says they plan on starting Andy Dalton again at quarterback when New Orleans hosts Seattle on Sunday. Jameis Winston will miss his second straight game with back and ankle injuries. Allen says Winston is feeling better, but he’s doubtful for Sunday’s game…

The state’s Wildlife and Fisheries Commission is proposing to limit the daily catch of speckled trout from 25 to 15 fish per angler. A regulation that could go into effect next year. Biologists say the speckled trout is losing some of their habitats due to coastal erosion and rising sea levels. The host Let’s Go Fishing Kevin Ford says the speckled trout population is not the only one in trouble.

The Saints will welcome Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks to the Superdome on Sunday. Smith is off to a good start this season as he’s completing 77-percent of his passes for over one-thousand yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s thrown for over 300 yards in his last two games. Kick-off is at noon.

After losing to Arkansas State 48-25 last Saturday, ULM will host Coastal Carolina for homecoming tomorrow. The Warhawks are 2-and-3 and Coach Terry Bowden says the losing record does not sit well for his team…

Excitement is building for LSU’s first big SEC test of the season as they welcome eighth ranked Tennessee into Death Valley for an 11 AM kick-off. The Volunteers are 4-0, while the Tigers are 4-and-1 and they’ve shown the ability to come from behind in games this season. Volunteers Coach Josh Heupel says they’ll need to play well for 60 minutes in order to win in Baton Rouge…

Saints Running Back Alvin Kamara says he will be back on the field this Sunday as New Orleans looks to snap a three-game losing streak against the Seahawks. Kamara missed the game in London due to ongoing isssues with his ribs, but he’s all healed up now…
