The LSU men’s basketball team was again got blown out yesterday as they fell to Arkansas 60-40 in Fayetteville. The Tigers shot just 12-percent from the field in the first half, 26-percent for the entire game in a seventh straight loss and a sixth consecutive double digit defeat.

LSU picked up another top overall ranking as Baseball America ranked the Tigers No. 1 in their top 25 heading into the 2023 season. The Tigers feature one of the most talented rosters in the country and had both the top-ranked recruiting and transfer classes this offseason and made a big splash over the summer by hiring former Twins Pitching Coach Wes Johnson. According to LSU’s annual NCAA financial report, the school’s athletic department made a six-point-five million dollar profit during fiscal year 2022. LSU made 38-million dollar on football tickets, a significant jump from the previous fiscal year when seating capacity was restricted because of COVID.

The LSU men’s basketball team will also hope to bounce back from a 6-game losing skid in Arkansas tonight. The Tigers opened SEC play with an upset win over the Razorbacks but have not won a conference game since. Meanwhile, previously ranked Arkansas has gone 2-4 since the loss and are 12.5 point favorites over coach Matt McMahon’s squad tonight. Tip-off is set for 6:00 P.M.

The LSU women’s basketball team kept their perfect season going with an 89-51 win over Alabama yesterday. Forward Angel Reese’s 14-point 14-rebound double-double gave her her 20th straight to start the season to break Sylvia Fowles’ LSU record. Reese was named SEC player of the week for a conference-leading fifth time this season, and LSU improves to 20-0 behind what coach Kim Mulkey says was an impressive all-around effort…

Former Saints Coach Sean Payton interviewed with the Panthers Monday and is set to visit Arizona officials Thursday. His second meeting in Denver was delayed, and Saints analyst Jeff Duncan thinks the longer this process takes, the better chances Payton returns to Fox.

Former Baylor Running Back Sqwirl Williams announced his commitment to Louisiana Tech. Williams totaled almost 600 all-purpose yards and 5 touchdowns for the Bears last season.

It wasn’t all Reese last night. Jasmine Carson hit four three-pointers and finished with 20 points, Alexis Morris had 17 points and seven assists and LaDazhia Williams had her second straight double-double 17 points and ten rebounds.

The Lady Tigers are ranked fourth in the latest A-P poll, but they are just one of two teams undefeated after second ranked Ohio State lost on its home floor to Iowa.

The Tulane men’s basketball team fell in OT to last place Tulsa Saturday 81-79. Nicholls beat in-state rival McNeese 71-68. UL-Lafayette prevailed over Texas State 60-51. Southeastern won against Texas A&M Commerce 79-73. ULM fell to Troy 77-53. Louisiana Tech fell to Middle Tennessee 68-51.

The Pelicans offense disappeared in the fourth quarter against the Magic last night as New Orleans lost in Orlando 123 to 110. It’s the third straight loss for the Pels and they’ve lost eight of their last eleven. Zion Williamson missed his ninth straight game with a hamstring injury and Brandon Ingram has now missed 27 games with a toe injury. Trey Murphy says they miss their two All-stars…

The LSU men’s basketball team will look to snap a five-game losing streak today when they host ninth ranked Tennessee. The Volunteers are 5-and-1 in the SEC, while the Tigers are 1-and-5 and have failed to score more than 66 points in their last four games. Tip off is at 3 PM.

The Ragin Cajuns seek their fifth straight win today as they close out a four-game road trip at Texas State. U-L Lafayette is among four teams tied for first place in the Sun Belt with a five and two league record. ULM is also 5-and-2 and the Warhawks are at Troy, who is at four and three.

Louisiana Tech is coming off an overtime win against Western Kentucky and today they host Middle Tennesee at 4 PM. The Bulldogs are 4-and-4, while Blue Raiders are 5-and-3.

McNeese will try to snap a four-game losing streak as they host Nicholls. The Colonels beat the Cowboys on Thursday night in Thibodaux by nine points. Tip off for this game is at 3:30.

ULM Coach Keith Richard won his 300th game as the Warhawks dribbled past Georgia Southern 72-59. Cobe Williams had 20 points as La Tech defeated Western Kentucky 85-74 in overtime.

LSU football receives a commitment from Oregon State linebacker Omar Speights, who was a first-team Pac 12 selection last season. Speights is from Philadelphia and has started 59 games over the last three seasons and has over 300 tackles. He fills a need at inside linebacker.

This is one of the best weekends of the NFL season as it’s the divisional round of the playoffs. Two games on Saturday and two more on Sunday. On Sunday, Joe Burrow and the Bengals battle the Bills in Buffalo. The two teams met in Week 17 but the game was halted when Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field due to a cardiac arrest. Burrow says, because of the lack of tape, Cincinnati will implement much of the same game plan they had in place three weeks ago…

ULM Coach Keith Richard won his 300th game as the Warhawks won at Georgia Southern 72-59. The Warhawks are 5-and-2 and part of a four-way tie for first place that includes the Cajuns.

Louisiana Tech outscored Western Kentucky 11-0 in overtime and beat the Hilltoppers 85-74. The Bulldogs were down by 12 points in the second half and they are now 4-and-4 in league play.

Neworleans-dot-football insider Mike Triplett reports the Saints will not be looking to replace Offensive Coordinator Pete Carmichael. The Saints ranked 22nd in points and 19th in total offense in 2022, but will not be looking to make any additional changes to the assistant coaching staff ahead of next season.

1st-team All-Pac-12 Oregon State Linebacker Omar Speights will be transferring to LSU. The senior tallied 83 tackles for the Beavers last season and will help to fill a hole in the Tigers’ defense.

The Ragin’ Cajuns look for their fifth straight win tonight as they visit Arkansas State. Coach Bob Marlin says his team has bounced back well after losing its first two Sun-Belt games, and they’ve been very efficient on the offensive end.

Louisiana Tech will try to end a two-game losing streak tonight when they host Western Kentucky. The Bulldogs are led in scoring by Cobe Williams, who is averaging 18 points a game, but are looking for others to step up. Last time out, it was Keaston Willis with a career-high 23-point performance against UAB. Coach Talvin Hester said Willis, who is averaging 13 a game, was concerned with a shooting slump, so he told him to concentrate on defense instead…
