Pelicans sophomores Trey Murphy and Jose Alvarado were named 2023 Jordan Rising Stars for NBA All-Star weekend. A pool of 28 rookies, sophomores, and G-League players is selected to participate in a three-game mini-tournament. Murphy, who was drafted 17^th overall last year, was also invited to participate in the NBA Dunk Contest. Murphy is one of the best young shooters in the league, shooting almost 40% from deep, but has emerged as one of the NBA’s most electric dunkers this season. Zion Williamson was also named an All-Star Starter this year but may not be able to participate due to injury.
