LSU football receives a commitment from Oregon State linebacker Omar Speights, who was a first-team Pac 12 selection last season. Speights is from Philadelphia has started 59 games over the last three seasons and has over 300 tackles. He fills a need at inside linebacker.

The third ranked LSU women’s basketball team was tested last night but they got past Arkansas 79-76. Angel Reese tied a school record with her 19th straight double-double as she had 30 points and had 19 rebounds. Flau’jae Johnson had 19 points and made four critical free throws down the stretch.

The Ragin Cajuns men’s basketball team won its fifth straight as U-L Lafayette beat Arkansas State 80-71. Jordan Brown had 31 points and a season-high 13 rebounds.

ULM Coach Keith Richard won his 300th game as the Warhawks won at Georgia Southern 72-59. The Warhawks are 5-and-2 and part of a four-way tie for first place that includes the Cajuns.

Louisiana Tech outscored Western Kentucky 11-0 in overtime and beat the Hilltoppers 85-74. The Bulldogs were down by 12 points in the second half and they are now 4-and-4 in league play.

Neworleans-dot-football insider Mike Triplett reports the Saints will not be looking to replace Offensive Coordinator Pete Carmichael. The Saints ranked 22nd in points and 19th in total offense in 2022, but will not be looking to make any additional changes to the assistant coaching staff ahead of next season.

1st-team All-Pac-12 Oregon State Linebacker Omar Speights will be transferring to LSU. The senior tallied 83 tackles for the Beavers last season and will help to fill a hole in the Tigers’ defense.

The Ragin’ Cajuns look for their fifth straight win tonight as they visit Arkansas State. Coach Bob Marlin says his team has bounced back well after losing its first two Sun-Belt games, and they’ve been very efficient on the offensive end.

The LSU women’s basketball team will look to go 19-0 tonight against Arkansas. The third-ranked Lady Tigers beat the Razorbacks 69-45 to start SEC play, their only loss in the last 5 games. Tip-off in the P-MAC is at 8:00

Louisiana Tech will try to end a two-game losing streak tonight when they host Western Kentucky. The Bulldogs are led in scoring by Cobe Williams, who is averaging 18 points a game, but are looking for others to step up. Last time out, it was Keaston Willis with a career-high 23-point performance against UAB. Coach Talvin Hester said Willis, who is averaging 13 a game, was concerned with a shooting slump, so he told him to concentrate on defense instead…

The third ranked LSU women’s basketball team hosts Arkansas tonight. The Lady Tigers are 18-0 and Angel Reese is seeking her 19th consecutive double-double, which would tie a school record.

Louisiana Tech looks to end a two-game losing streak tonight when they host Western Kentucky. The Bulldogs are 3-and-4 in Conference USA. The losses in league play have been by seven points or less. Bulldogs Coach Talvin Hester is optimistic more wins are on the way…

Bachmeier has two full years of eligibility after starting 29 games at Boise State, going 20-and-9, throwing for 66 hundred yards, 41 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions.

It doesn’t get any easier for LSU as they host ninth-ranked Tennessee on Saturday.

The Pelicans also blown out on their home floor as the Miami Heat defeated 124 to 98. Miami shot 53-percent from the field. C-J McCollum had 21 to lead the Pels, who will be in Orlando on Friday and then face the Heat again on Sunday in Miami.

LSU linebacker Kolbe fields announced he will be transferring to Louisiana Tech with three years of eligibility remaining. The Louisiana native played in 11 games for the Tigers a season ago and was the 53rd-ranked linebacker coming out of high school in 2021. He joins Nebraska Wide Receiver DeColdest Crawford who announced his commitment to LA Tech Sunday. Crawford was the 81st-ranked wideout in the country coming out of Glen Oaks High school in 2022 and could make an immediate impact for the Bulldogs next season.

The Houston Texans say they interviewed former Saints Coach Sean Payton last night. Since Payton is still under contract with New Orleans, it’s expected the team that hires him will have to give up a mid to late first round pick. Saints analyst Bobby Hebert said on WWL Radio last night Houston would be a good trade partner for New Orleans since they have the second and 12th pick in the first round of the upcoming draft…
