LSU celebrated its first national championship in basketball with a parade through campus that ended in the Maravich Center and the celebration continued in the PMAC as several players, Coach Kim Mulkey and dignitaries spoke in front of some grateful fans. The seniors had a chance to speak, including guard Alexis Morris

The Pelicans beat a short-manned Grizzlies team in overtime 138-131 last night. The Pels came back 19 points for their largest comeback season on a historic offensive performance. They set a franchise record with 21 threes and had three players score over thirty for the first time  in franchise history: CJ McCollum, Trey Murphy, and Herb Jones. The win ties New Orleans with the Lakers in 7th one game behind the Clippers and Warriors and a play-off berth with two games left in the season. They’ve clinched at worst the nine-seed and a spot in the play-in tournament and play their last home game of the season tomorrow night against the Knicks.

The LSU Baseball team begins its series in Columbia tonight at 6. The third-ranked Gamecocks lead the nation with 72 home runs. They’re second in the SEC East with an 8-1 conference record and are 27-3 overall. South Carolina is second in the SEC in team ERA at 2.98, but tonight the Tigers will face 6’6” 230 lb. right-hander Will Sanders on the mound, who’s struggled recently with a 5.17 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 31 innings pitched. The Tigers will hope to take advantage on offense while junior right-hander Paul Skenes will attempt to shut down the explosive Gamecock bats.

The Pelicans nearly had a disastrous loss last night but bounced back to beat Memphis in overtime 138 to 131 to clinch at least a spot in the play-in-tournament. New Orleans led by six points with 11 seconds left, but
Coach Willie Green says a couple of bone headed plays forced them to play an extra five minutes….

The top ranked LSU baseball team opens a three-game series against sixth ranked South Carolina tonight in Columbia. The Gamecocks are 27-and-3 and they’ve been outstanding on the mound with a 2.98 ERA. No Chase Shores for LSU this weekend, as the freshman right hander is out with an arm injury.

For the fist time on LSU’s campus last night, they celebrated a national championship in basketball as the Lady Tigers were honored for their historic achievement. Thousands attended a big celebration in the PMAC. Coach Kim Mulkey spoke for a few minutes and left the stage with this message….

Former Dunham High standout in Baton Rouge, Jordan Wright, is returning home to play for the LSU Tigers. Wright has spent the last four seasons at Vanderbilt and last season he averaged 11 points, five rebounds and two assists a game. This will be his final year of eligibility.

The N-B-A Season ends Sunday, but the Pelicans will play beyond that as they clinched at least a spot in the play-in tournament with a 138 to 131 overtime win over the Memphis Grizzlies last night. This was almost a disatrous loss as the Pels blew a six-point lead with eleven seconds left in regulation. But for the first time in franchise history, the team had three players score 30 points or more, Herb Jones, C-J McCollum and Trey Murphy. Jones had a career-high 35 points and took advantage of the Grizzlies not defending him on the perimeter…

The Pels are tied with the Lakers for seventh place in the West and will host the Knicks tomorrow.

Another big SEC series begins tonight for the top ranked LSU baseball team as they will face sixth ranked South Carolina for the next three days in Columbia. LSU’s starting pitchers for the series, Paul Skenes, Ty Floyd and Christian Little will get the start Saturday.

What a celebration on LSU’s campus for the national champion women’s basketball team last night. There was a parade through campus with players and coaches riding in convertibles with the tops down. And then inside the Maravich Center, some of the players spoke to a large crowd of fans and everyone was waiting to hear from four-time national champion head coach Kim Mulkey who came to LSU to win a title….

LSU men’s basketball coach Matt McMahon is looking to jump start his program. McMahon has received a commitment from Baton Rouge native Jordan Wright, who is transferring to LSU after playing four seasons at Vanderbilt where he averaged 11 points and six rebounds this past season.

The Pelicans host the Memphis Grizzlies tonight looking to get a win after losing their home floor to Sacramento last night. Memphis star Ja Morant is not expected to play as New Orleans enters the contest in eighth place in the Western Conference. With three games left in the regular season, the Pels will most likely be a part of the four-team play-in tournament.

One of the biggest stars on LSU’s defense last season was Freshman All-American Harold Perkins, who led the team with 72 tackles, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception. He flourished as an edge rusher, but Tigers defensive coordinator Matt House says Perkins is getting more reps at his natural position during spring football…

A parade for the national champs will take place on LSU’s campus tonight. The Lady Tigers basketball team will also be celebrated inside the Maravich Center as the national championship trophy will be present, plus Coach Kim Mulkey and some of the players will address the crowd. LSU Chief Brand Officer Cody Worsham says the Lady Tigers run to the title has brought a lot of positive publicity…

LSU men’s basketball coach Matt McMahon has nabbed a player out of the transfer portal. Jordan Wright announced today he’s leaving Vanderbilt to play for the Tigers. Wright was a standout player at Dunham High School in Baton Rouge. Last season he averaged 11 points and five rebounds a game for the Commodores. The six-foot-six guard has four years of SEC experience.

Tomorrow is the first round of the Masters, former LSU golfer Sam Burns from Shreveport will tee off at 11:48 central time.

There will be a big celebration tonight to honor the Lady Tigers basketball team that won a national championship on Sunday. There will be a parade on campus that starts at 6:30 PM and then an event in the Maravich Center where Coach Kim Mulkey and several players will address the crowd. LSU Chief Brand Officer Cody Worsham says the team brought a lot of positive attention to the school and women’s basketball….

Iowa superstar guard Caitlin Clark told ESPN she has no problems with LSU All-American Angel Reese’s actions towards the end of the game that some people called poor sportsmanship.

After losing to Sacramento 121 to 103 last night, New Orleans is back at it tonight hosting Memphis. With three regular season games left, the Pels are in eighth place, one game behind the Clippers and Lakers for sixth place. A half game ahead of Minnesota for ninth place.

Tommy White slugged two home runs as top ranked LSU defeated Nicholls 12 to 2 in seven innings last night. But Dylan Crews went hitless, ending his hit streak at 26 games.

Elsewhere, the Cajuns defeated Tulane eight to seven, Northwestern State won by the same score over Louisiana Tech as the Demons won in 13 innings on Bo Willis’ walk-off single. ULM lost to Little Rock.

LSU defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo had a break out season last year as he racked up 47 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble in 13 games. He’s not participating in spring practice because of shoulder and core muscle injuries, but defensive coordinator Matt House says that doesn’t mean he isn’t still progressing…

The top ranked LSU baseball team had another run rule victory last night as the Tigers topped Nicholls 12 to two in seven innings. Tommy White hit two home runs to give him ten on the season. Jared Jones hit hit his ninth home run.

Northwestern State edged Louisiana Tech eight to seven in 13 innings. Bo Willis had the walk-off single.

Tulane scored six runs in the ninth inning to tie the Cajuns in Lafayette, but Heath Hood scored on a wild pitch to give U-L Lafayette an eight to seven win over the Green Wave. Ben Robichaux and C-J Willis homered for the Cajuns.

ULM lost to Little Rock 12 to seven and Mississippi State thumped Grambling 21 to two.

Tonight the LSU women’s basketball team will be honored with a parade on campus and a celebration will also take place inside the Maravich Center. Iowa’s Caitlin Clark told ESPN she didn’t think Angel Reese should been criticized for giving her the you can’t see me gesture.

The Sacramento Kings are one of the best teams in the NBA in scoring the basketball and they showed that last night in the Smoothie King Center in a 121 to 103 win over the Pelicans. The Kings made 17 three-pointers against Coach Willie Green’s team…

First Lady Jill Biden’s suggestion that Iowa deserves to join the LSU women’s basketball team on their visit to the White House after their NCAA Championship was met with heavy backlash. New Orleans Congressman Troy Carter believes the Lady Tigers should get to enjoy the honor solo, but doesn’t think the first Lady had any Ill-intent…

The LSU football team is just over halfway through their Spring Training schedule that began in early March. Defensive Coordinator Matt House says its provided a great chance to develop depth, especially on the defensive line as starters Mekhi Wingo and Maason Smith are out with injury…

The LSU women’s basketball team returned home to celebrate its national championship win over Iowa yesterday. LSU hosted a celebration yesterday afternoon and Coach Kim Mulkey is looking forward to a parade and another celebration in the P-MAC tomorrow night…

The Pelicans will host the Kings tonight in the second of their 5-game home stand. After a big win over the Clippers Saturday, the Pels are tied with the Lakers at 8th in the West with 4 games left in the season just half a game behind the Clippers and Warriors in 5th and 6th. New Orleans can clinch a spot in the play-in tournament with a win tonight. The Pels are 3.5-point home favorites without Jose Alvarado and Zion Williamson, and Kings guard Malik Monk is listed as questionable. Tip-off is at 7:00

Zion has progressed to participating in low-intensity 3-on-3 with coaches but hasn’t been cleared for 5-on-5 or full contact scrimmages. An official update from the team is expected tomorrow after another re-evaluation

After receiving significant backlash, First Lady Jill Biden is backing off the idea of having both LSU and Iowa at the White House to celebrate making it to the championship game. Some have described it as an awful idea and New Orleans Congressman Troy Carter says if both schools get an invite, it diminishes the value of the trip….

The First Lady’s press secretary said today that Mrs Jill Biden floated the idea because she was impressed with how both teams played and looks forward to celebrating LSU’s championship win at the White House.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport reports Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker is visiting with the Saints today. Hooker threw for over three-thousand yards and completed nearly 70=percent of his passes last season, before an ACL injury late in the year. Hooker also threw 27 touchdown passes and two interceptions in 11 starts and could be avialable when the Saints pick with the 29th selection in the first round.

Jerry Arledge is stepping down as West Monroe High School’s head fooball coach. Arledge has been on West Monroe’s sidelines for 31 seasons and was the defensive coordinator when the school won eight state titles from 1992 to 2012. KNOE-TV Sports Director Aaron Dietrich says it’s the end of an era.

The LSU women’s basketball team is back home celebrating its national championship win over the Iowa Hawkeyes. Sunday’s title game was the most-watched game in women’s college basketball history averaging nearly 10 million viewers. First Lady Jill Biden wants to invite both LSU and Iowa to the White House, but Angel Reese said on Twitter that’s a joke.

The Saints will reportedly meet with Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker today. Hooker is recovering from a torn ACL and is expected to be available late in the first round of the NFL draft when New Orleans picks.

West Monroe Head football coach Jerry Arledge is stepping down as head coach after 10 seasons. KNOE-TV Sports Director Aaron Dietrich says Arledge went 103-22 during that time…

The LSU Lady Tigers returned to Baton Rouge today as national champions in women’s basketball. LSU had five players score in double figures in a 102-85 win over Iowa. The 102 points are the most scored in an NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship game.

The historic performance is being overshadowed on the national stage by Angel Reese’s celebration that had her waving her hand in front of her face like John Cena and his “You can’t see me gesture.” Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark did the same thing during the Hawkeyes Elite Eight victory over Louisville.

Many on social media called it poor sportsmanship, but Reese says all year she was critiqued about who she is…

LSU announced today they will have a parade on campus and then a celebration in the PMAC on Wednesday night for the national champs.

LSU baseball remains ranked number one in all of the polls, despite a 14-7 loss to Tennessee on Saturday. In that game, Center fielder Dylan Crews continued to swing a hot bat as he had four more hits and for the season he has an astonishing .543 batting average. Crews expects the Tigers will rebound…

Big news in high school football as Jerry Arledge is stepping down as the head coach of the West Monroe Rebels and will become the school’s athletic director. Arledge was at West Monroe for 31 seasons helping the Rebels win eight state titles from 1992 to 2012 as the defensive coordinator for the late Don Shows.
