The LSU Tigers are national champions for the seventh time in program history. The Tigers were favorites for the title much of the season before a late season slump led to many questioning their original Omaha or Bust aspirations. After losing in the double elimination tournament portion of the CWS, the Tigers won three straight to earn a spot in the championship series. After a game one win, Florida dominated the Tigers en route to a 24-4 victory to force game three. LSU sealed the series with an all-around impressive 14-4 win to claim the national title. Johnson says he’s proud of how his team fought through adversity on and off the field.

Cut 15

LSU set a College World Series record with 24 hits and starting pitcher Thacher Hurd had a stellar performance striking out 7 in 6 innings. He only allowed 2 hits, both of which came in the first inning.

Coach Jay Johnson sat down with him before the game

Cut 4

Thompson batted in three runs with two hits in the final game of the series
