SEC spring meetings are ongoing in Destin, Florida with no decision in sight on what to do with the football schedule when Oklahoma and Texas enter the league in 2024. The Conference USA Baseball Tournament is returning to Ruston next season. The five day tournament will take place May 22nd to the 26th at J-C Love Field at Pat Patterson Park. Tech also hosted the event in 2021.

LSU and Tulane will continue its baseball rivalry this Friday when the two teams meet in the opener of the Baton Rouge Regional. The Tigers defeated the Green Wave 11-5 in a midweek matchup in New Orleans in April and are heavy favorites this Friday. LSU has one of the best offenses in baseball, but Tulane pitcher Dylan Carmouche says they’re not invincible…

Delgado’s run through the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado is over after losing to top seeded Central Florida 12 to 9. The Dolphins went two and two in the series and tied a program record with 47 victories on the season.

Delgado won its second game at the Division One junior college world series. The Dolphins beat Johnson County Community College 14-to-4 yesterday in five innings. They play Central Florida Community College at 3 PM today. Delgado is 47-12 and the 47 wins matches a school record for most victories in a season.

The LSU baseball team was named the fifth overall national seed for the NCAA tournament and will host a regional this weekend. The Tigers spent most of the season as the top team in the country before a late season fall, but they’ll still hope to make their way to Omaha. This weekend will mark the first time LSU has hosted a regional since 2019. The games will also feature Oregon State, and Sam Houston State. The Tigers will face Tulane on Friday at 2pm. The Nicholls baseball team earned a spot in the postseason after winning the Southland Conference Championship Sunday. They’ll visit the Tuscaloosa regional hosted by 16th-seeded Alabama who is one of the hottest teams in baseball. Colonels coach Mike Silva says he’s excited:

As expected LSU baseball has been awarded one of the 16 regional sites in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers are also expected to be a top eight national seed, which means they would be in position to host a super regional.

Who will be in LSU’s regional will be answered today. Two other other Louisiana teams have received automatic berths. Despite only winning 19 games this season, Tulane has received an automatic bid after winning the American Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament by beating top seeded East Carolina eight to six yesterday. The victory gave the program its ninth conference tournament win.

Nicholls won its first Southland Baseball Tournament title since 1998 when they defeated U-N-O six to three on Saturday in Lake Charles.

The Ragin Cajuns made it to the Sun Belt Tournament Title game, but lost to Southern Miss six to two. UL Lafayette is 40-22 and they’ll find out today if they’ve done enough to get an at-large bid.

LSU will play Friday against a team to be announced in the opening round of the Baton Rouge Regional.

Delgado avoided elimination in the National Junior College World Series in Colorado with an eleven to five win over Andrew College in Georgia. The win marks the progam’s first World Series victory since 2016. Delgado is now 46-12 on the season and they will play again Monday afternoon.

The LSU Tigers were sent home from the SEC Tournament yesterday as they suffered their second consecutive one run loss as they fell to Texas A-and-M five to four. The Aggies scored four runs in the seventh inning to take the lead. LSU relief pitcher Sam Dutton gave up a three-run homer. The Tigers had their chances as they left 12 runners on base and struck out 11 times. The team’s leading run producer, Tommy White, did not play and Coach Jay Johnson was asked why after the game…

LSU will find out on Monday who they will host in a regional.

Could Nicholls or UNO be in a regional with LSU? Those two teams will battle it out today in the Southland Tournament Championship game. The Colonels need just one win, while the Privateers need to win two games to secure an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. The action gets underway at 1 PM in Lake Charles.

The Ragin Cajuns are still alive in the Sun Belt Tournament after beating Texas State 12 to six. Carson Roccaforte (Rock-uh-fort) drove in five runs. U-L Lafayette will have to beat top-seeded Coastal Carolina twice today to advance to the championship game.

Louisiana Tech’s season is done as they lost to Charlotte four to one in the Conference USA Tournament. After playing in the NCAA Tournament the last two seasons, the Bulldogs finished with a 28-31 record.

Grambling fell to Bethune-Cookman seven to three. The Wildcats and Tigers will play again today at 3 PM to find out who plays in the SWAC Championship game.

The Ragin Cajuns softball team dropped the opener of its Super Regional Series to Washington as they were blanked by the Huskies eight to nothing. Game two is tonight at 6 PM.

The Saints have reportedly brought former Raiders and Buccaneers head coach John Gruden to help new quarterback Derek Carr learn the offense. Gruden coached Carr from 2018 through the first five games of the 2021 season and Gruden knows the type of offense the Saints run.

There was a celebration this afternoon at the White House for Kim Mulkey and the LSU Lady Tigers. Even President Joe Biden is impressed with how quickly this group came together to win the school’s first national title in women’s basketball….

Mulkey has seen five presidents in the executive mansion. Four as a head coach and once as a former Olympian after the US Women’s basketball team won a Gold Medal in 1984.

Southern was eliminated from the SWAC Tournament as they fell to Bethune-Cookman 10-6. Bethune-Cookman advances to play Grambling tonight.

Nicholls has advanced to its first Southland Tournament Championship game since 1998 as the Colonels defeated U-N-O five to three today.
