LSU Quarterback Jayden Daniels did not practice yesterday as he’s in concussion protocol. Garrett Nussmeier took the first team snaps as the Tigers prepared for Saturday night’s matchup with the Florida Gators. We’ll get more of an update from Coach Brian Kelly when he speaks on the SEC Coaches teleconference.

The Saints are tied for the NFL lead with 18 takeaways and they are number one with 12 interceptions. Last season, they intercepted a franchise-low seven passes. Safety Marcus Maye was asked about the difference between this year and last year

The Saints are 5-and-4 and on a two-game winning streak and will host the Minnesota Vikings, who will start Joshua Dobbs at Q-B. Dobbs came off the bench to lead Minnesota to a 31-28 victory against Atlanta. Dobbs was acquired in a trade with Arizona last week.

Former LSU pitcher Kevin Gausman has been named a finalist for the 2023 American League Cy Young Award. The other finalists are Yankees pitcher Gerret Cole and Minnesota’s Sonny Gray. Gausman was 12-9 with a 3.16 ERA. He led the American League with 237 strikeouts.

ULM football is 2-and-7 heading into this Saturday’s home game against Troy. Warhawks Coach Terry Bowden says his players are still fighting…

With three regular season games left, the statistics do no look pretty for LSU’s defense. Out of 130 FBS teams, LSU ranks 122nd in allowing teams to convert on third down, 129th in Red Zone defense and the Tigers are 97th in total defense. During his Monday press conference, Coach Brian Kelly was asked how much work will be needed in the offseason to fix the problems on defense….

In Saturday’s loss to Alabama, Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe had a career-high 155 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Kelly said one adjustment he wishes they made, was putting a spy on Milroe.

The Saints forced five turnovers in their 24-17 win over the Chicago Bears. After recording just seven interceptions last season, New Orleans has an NFL-high 12 interceptions. Coach Dennis Allen says it’s been more of an emphasis this season…

In basketball…the top ranked LSU women’s basketball team dropped its season opener to 20th ranked Colorado 92-78. Seven footer Will Baker had 29 points as the Tigers men’s team defeated Mississippi Valley State 106 to 60. McNeese opened the Will Wade era with a 76-65 victory over VCU. Wade is serving a ten-game suspension to open the season.

Lady Tigers Coach Kim Mulkey will need to see more from her team on the defensive end of the court after getting upset last night, 97-78 to 20th ranked Colorado. The Buffaloes shot 53-percent from the field and hit ten three-pointers in the upset of top ranked LSU.

Saints Coach Dennis Allen says they do not plan on bringing in any kickers for a try out, even though rookie Blake Grupe missed a 47-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter in Sunday’s win over the Bears….

Not the start the Lady Tigers basketball fans were expecting last night as top ranked LSU lost to Colorado 92-78. Colorado made 53-percent of its shots, while LSU made 44-percent.

LSU football can not win the SEC West as a result of its loss to Alabama, but Coach Brian Kelly says they can still have back to back ten win seasons if they win their final three regular season games and the bowl game. He says elite programs win ten or more games every year and that’s what he’s striving for….

Minnesota rallied late yesterday to beat Atlanta 31-28. Josh Dobbs who was just acquired from Arizona last week, came off the bench and threw two touchdown passes. Minnesota is also 5-and-4 on the season.
The Bengals have won four in a row, Joe Burrow threw two TD passes in a win over the Bills.

There will be no SEC West Championship for LSU this season as the Tigers scored just one touchdown in the second half in a 42-28 loss to Alabama. Coach Brian Kelly says the Tigers did a lot of good things, but you have to play at a higher level than good in order to win in Tuscaloosa…

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels threw for 219 yards and two touchdown passes and also rushed for 163 yards and a score. He left the game in the fourth quarter after taking a vicious hit to the helmet from Dallas Turner.

Paulson Adebo will likely be named the N-F-C Defensive Player of the Week. Adebo had two interceptions and also forced and recovered a fumble.
Taysom Hill had a passing touchdown and a receiving touchdown. He becomes only the second player in the NFL to record ten rushing touchdowns, ten receiving touchdowns and ten passing touchdowns in a career. The late Frank Gifford is the only other player to do it.

The Ragin Cajuns will be at Arkansas State on Saturday. A team they’ve defeated five straight times. U-L Lafayette went on the road last Saturday and defeated South Alabama and they are hoping to get a second straight road win.

ULM and Southern Miss go after their first conference win of the season Saturday when they meet in Hattiesburg, Both teams have not won a game since September. Warhawks Coach Terry Bowden says his coaching staff has been working hard to keep the team’s morale up…

The Louisiana Wildlife Commission has begun the process of establishing black bear hunting season. It would take place in December of 2024 for 16 days in northeast Louisiana. It would only be open to ten hunters who are chosen through a lottery. The state has not had a black bear hunting season since the late 1980s, so LDWF large carnivore program manager John Hanks says lottery winners will have to undergo training first…

At Saints practice today…wide receiver Michael Thomas and offensive lineman Andrus Peat were full participants after they were limited on Wednesday. Thomas because of an illness, Peat because of an ankle injury. Taysom Hill, James Hurst and Demario Davis were limited. The Saints host the Chicago Bears this Sunday.

Zion Williamson will not play tonight as the Pelicans host the Pistons. It’s the second game of a back-to-back. New Orleans won in Oklahoma City last night 110 to 106 as the Pels fought back from a 22 point first half deficit. CJ McCollum had 29 points, 22 of them came in the second half.

Texas Rangers fans are celebrating the team’s first World Series championship. Texas took down Arizona four games to one. The Rangers won all 11 games they played on the road. Former LSU Tiger Josh Smith will get a World Series ring. Former McNeese pitcher Grant Anderson is on the Rangers 40-man roster.
