LSU will promote current assistants Joe Sloan and Cortez Hankton to co-offensive coordinator. The two have been with Brian Kelly since he arrived in Baton Rouge. Sloan is expected to be the play caller on game days and he is a former offensive coordinator at Louisiana Tech.

The Saints have reportedly interviewed a pair of San Francisco 49er assistants for its offensive coordinator vacancy, passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak and Brian Griese. Griese is a former NFL quarterback and he’s been working with San Francisco starter Brock Purdy. And The Saints will reportedly interview Bengals quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher for a second time on Thursday as they look for a new offensive coordinator.

The ninth ranked LSU Lady Tigers and top ranked South Carolina will meet Thursday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Tickets are going for 13-hundred dollars on the secondary ticket market.

What a win for McNeese last night as the Cowboys rallied back from an 18 point deficit to beat Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi on their home floor 62-61. Christian Shumate scored the winning bucket at the buzzer after a missed free throw. The junior from Chicago says it was a gutsy win…

Also in the Southland last night, Nicholls had a nice win on the road as the Colonels beat U-I-W 78-74 in overtime. Byron Ireland and Diante Smith each had 20 points. Southeastern Louisiana dribbled past Northwestern State 71-62 snapping the Demons three-game winning streak.

The Saints will reportedly interview Bengals quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher for a second time on Thursday as they look for a new offensive coordinator. Albert Breer reports Pitcher interviewed virtually last week. The Patriots and Raiders are also interested in Pitcher and he could get a promotion in Cincinnati now that Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan has been named the new head coach in Tennessee. Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson, Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson and Saints Q-B coach Ronald Curry are other possible candidates for the Saints O-C job.

There was some speculation LSU football coach Brian Kelly was interested in hiring his former quarterback at Notre Dame, Tommy Rees, but Rees has reportedly found a job with the Cleveland Browns as a tight ends coach.

Looking for tickets to Thursday night’s big time matchup between top ranked South Carolina and ninth ranked LSU. On the secondary market, tickets are going for as much as 12-hundred dollars on StubHub.

The Pelicans host the Utah Jazz tonight. It’s New Orleans first game since losing to Phoenix on Friday. Head Coach Willie Green says it’s been a nice three-day break…

The LSU Lady Tigers jumped out to an 18-0 lead on Arkansas yesterday and never looked back as they defeated the Razorbacks 99 to 68 in front 12-thousand fans inside the Maravich Center. LSU had five players in double figures led by Mikaylah Williams, who had 21 points. Hailey Van Lith added 20 points and Angel Reese added 16 points and 17 rebounds. Rough night for the Pelicans last night as they were burned by the Phoenix Suns 123 to 109. Devin Booker scored 52 points as the Suns won their fourth straight. Booker scored 25 in the first quarter. Zion Williamson had 24 points in the loss. The Pels next game is Tuesday against the Jazz.

The 10th ranked LSU women’s basketball team got back in the win column last night as the Lady Tigers topped Alabama 78-58 in Tuscaloosa. Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow each had 20 points, but sophomore Flau’Jae Johnson says their defense was the key….

ULM men’s basketball remains winless in the Sun Belt after losing to James Madison 89 to 70 last night. But the Warhawks women’s basketball team defeated the Lady Cajuns 65-59 at the Cajundome, snapping an 18-game losing streak to U-L Lafayette. Daisha Bradford had 20 points as ULM improves to 4-and-2 in the Sun Belt, while the Cajuns are 2-and-4.

Also in women’s basketball, Southeastern Louisiana improved to 5-and-0 in the Southland with a 55-48 win over Northwestern State. Nicholls topped U-I-W 65-59 and Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi topped McNeese 83-63.

The Pelicans will host the Phoenix Suns at the Smoothie King Center tonight. The Suns have won three in a row, but they trail New Orleans in the Western Conference standings. New Orleans is in 5th place with a 25-17 record, while the Suns are 22-18 and in eighth place. Tip time is just after 7 PM.

Incredible performance by Brandon Ingram last night as the 26-year-old recorded his third triple-double of his career as he scored 28 points, grabbed ten rebounds and had 10 assists as New Orleans defeated the struggling Charlotte Hornets 132 to 112. The Pels also made a franchise record 25 three-pointers. New Orleans has won eight of its last eleven and they’ll host the Phoenix Suns on Friday.

Saints quarterback Derek Carr took a lot of heat from the fan base this season as the offense struggled, especially during the first half of the season. General Manager Mickey Loomis says Carr finished the season strong, after dealing with several injuries…

LSU is now 11-6 overall, 3-and-1 in the SEC. The three conference victories surpasses the number of wins they had last year in league play.

The Ragin Cajuns had five players in double figures last night as they defeated Texas State 86-68. Kobe Julien had 18 points and also had six rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots. The Cajuns are 3-and-3 in the Sun Belt.

The Pelicans started a four-game home stand with a 132 to 112 win over the Hornets. Brandon Ingram had a triple-double, 28 points, ten boards and ten assists. The Pels host Kevin Durant and the Suns tomorrow.

Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis confirmed Dennis Allen will return for a third season as the team’s head coach. While much of the fan base is down on Allen, Loomis called Allen a good coach during an hour long press conference yesterday. Loomis also says they are expecting a better record than the 9-and-8 mark that they achieved this season…

The Saints are looking for a new offensive coordinator after firing Pete Carmichael. They’ve requested interviews with Rams passing game coordinator Zac Robinson, Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and Cincinnati’s Dan Pitcher.
