The defending national champion LSU Tigers are now 3-12 in the SEC after they were swept at Tennessee this past weekend. It was the Tigers bullpen that struggled yesterday in an eight to four loss. Cam Johnson gave up a couple of runs, Gavin Guidry allowed a three-run homer and Kade Anderson was also touched for two runs. The Tigers host UNO tomorrow.

The 19th ranked Ragin Cajuns baseball team won their 14th straight Sun Belt game on Sunday as they blanked Marshall two to nothing. Carson Fluno carried a no hitter into the eighth inning. The 14 straight conference wins ties a Sun Belt record. The Cajuns host Southeastern on Tuesday.

ULM took two of three from Texas State, but lost the series finale 13 to 11. Arizona swept Louisiana Tech out in Tuscon. Southern swept Grambling in a three game series and the Jaguars are now tied with Texas Southern for first place in the SWAC Western Division. Lamar leads the Southland after sweeping the Southeastern Lions.

LSU’s spring game featured what we saw in 2023, receivers wide-open. Garrett Nussmeier threw two touchdown passes, receivers Zavion Thomas and Kyren Lacy were both wide open. Coach Brian Kelly says the defense is still a work in progress

LSU came out of spring practice without suffering any major injuries.

Disappointing game for the Pelicans yesterday as the were blown out by the Lakers 124 to 108 in the regular season finale. The defeat sends New Orleans to the play-in game where they’ll play the Lakers for the seventh seed in the Western Conference Playoffs.

W-N-B-A draft is tonight, Angel Reese is expected to be selected in the first round.

Another frustrating loss for LSU baseball last night as they fell to Tennessee six to three. Tommy White had three hits, but the Tigers left ten runners on base. Gage Jump suffered the loss as he allowed five runs over four innings. He walked four hitters. Game two is today at 4:30.

The 19th ranked Ragin Cajuns won their 12th straight Sun Belt game beating Marshall three to one. Lee Amedee and Conor Higgs hit solo home runs and Andrew Herrmann and LP Langevin combined on a five-hitter and struckout 12. Game two is at two PM.

ULM defeated Texas State Seven to five. Easton Winfield had three hits and drove in two runs. Brandon Brewer was the winning pitcher and Carson Orton got the save.

Louisiana Tech had just three hits in a nine to one loss to Arizona.

Balin Valentine hit a two-run home run in the tenth inning as Northwestern State defeated Nicholls seven to five in ten innings. Southeastern and McNeese lost.

CJ McCollum had another hot shooting night last night and the Pelicans defeated Golden State 114 to 109. McCollum hit eight three-pointers and finished with 28 points. The win completed a 4-and-0 road trip and New Orleans will host the Lakers on Sunday in the regular season finale. The Pels need a win or a Suns loss to the Timberwolves to secure the sixth seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Tip time Sunday is at 2:30.

The LSU baseball team beat Tennessee twice in the College World Series last year and would love to get two wins against the Vols this weekend in a three-game series that begins tonight in Knoxville. Tennessee is ranked 4th and they are 7-5 in SEC play, while the Tigers are 3-and-9. 6:30 first pitch.

19th ranked U-L Lafayette hosts Marshall. The Cajuns have won eleven straight Sun Belt games, while the Thundering Herd are five and seven in league play.

ULM, who was swept last weekend by the Cajuns, is home this weekend to take on Texas State. The Bobcats are 5-and-7 in the Sun Belt.

Louisiana Tech is at Arizona for a three game series. The Wildcats are 18-and-13 and they are on an eight game winning streak.

It’s the final weekend of the NBA regular season, A Pelicans win tonight over Golden State and a Suns loss to the Kings and New Orleans will clinch the sixth seed in the West and avoid the Play in Tournament.

LSU will hold its spring game on Saturday. The offense will take on the defense, but don’t expect the top players to get a ton of snaps. Coach Brian Kelly says Saturday will be a day for back-ups to showcase their talents, like reserve tight ends Mac Markway and Ka’Morreun Pimpton. Kelly says this also a chance to see Josh Williams and Kaleb Jackson carry the ball…

The Saints have signed former Texas A-and-M and Minnesota Viking quarterback Kellen Mond.

Shreveport’s Sam Burns will not make the cut a the Masters. Burns shot an 80 on Thursday and then a 73 today and he’s at 9 over. The projected cut line is four over.

The Pelicans defeated Sacramento 135 to 123 last night. New Orleans made 22 three-pointers. CJ McCollum made nine threes and finished with 31 points. Zion Williamson also had 31 as the Pels remain in control of occupying the sixth seed in the Western Conference playoffs and avoid the play-in tournament. New Orleans is at Golden State tonight.

LSU coach Kim Mulkey gave an emotional speech at the team’s banquet last night. Mulkey says she’s emotional as the program has been in the headlines for a variety of reasons, including not being present for the national anthem before their Elite Eight loss to Iowa. And LSU has lost another player to transfer portal, Jenae Kent.

The LSU football team will conclude spring practice with a spring game on Saturday. Coach Brian Kelly is entering his third season in Tiger Town and he feels good about the talent and depth on the 2024 team. LSU struggled defensively last year as they tried to plug holes with incoming transfers. He says this year there’s more carryover from the 2023 squad…

The Saints have signed another back-up quarterback. Kellen Mond joins Q-B room that has Derek Carr, Jake Haener and Nathan Peterman. Mond is a former Texas A-and-M Aggie and was drafted by the Vikings in 2021. New Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak was the offensive coordinator Minnesota that season.

Kelly says there’s a competitive battle for the number two quarterback spot, so expect to see a lot of Rickie Collins and A-J Swann in Saturdays’ spring game.

Five-foot-eleven point guard Jordan Sears has committed to the LSU men’s basketball program. Sears averaged 21 points a game and shot 43-percent from three-point territory at Tennessee-Martin last season. Alabama and South Carolina were also interested in Sears.

Big game for the Pelicans tonight as New Orleans needs a win to stay in sixth place in the Western Conference. The Pels have a half-game lead over Phoenix for the sixth spot and tonight New Orleans visits Sacramento. Just three regular season games left.

LSU men’s basketball coach Matt McMahon found himself a scorer in the transfer portal. U-T Martin’s Jordan Sears has announced his commitment to the Tigers. The former four-star prospect from Florida averaged nearly 22 points a game last season and shot 43-percent from three-point land.

The LSU baseball team begins a three-game series against fourth ranked Tennessee tomorrow night in Knoxville. Coach Jay Johnson announced Gage Jump will start on the mound Friday and Luke Holman will start on Saturday. No reason given for the switch.

After seeing its 16-game winning streak come to an end last night, the Ragin Cajuns baseball team will host Marshall for a weekend series. U-L Lafayette lost to Louisiana Tech seven to two last night. The Bulldogs have a non-conference series this weekend at Arizona. U-L-M will host Texas State.

Louisiana Tech ended the Ragin Cajuns 16-game winning streak with a seven to two win in Lafayette. It’s Tech’s first win over U-L Lafayette since 2020. Tech’s five pitchers combines to strike out a season-high 15 hitters. Cole McConnell went four for four at the plate, Jorge Corona had three hits. The Bulldogs will be at Arizona this weekend, while the Cajuns host Marshall.

The LSU baseball team leaves for Knoxville today, where they’ll begin a three-game series at Tennessee. The Volunteers leads the SEC with 35 home runs in 12 conference games. Blake Burke and Kavares Tears are both hitting over .400 in league play.

The sixth ranked LSU softball team rallied from a four to nothing deficit to beat Southeastern Louisiana seven to five in eight innings. Karli Petty’s first home run, a three-run shot, gave the Tigers their fifth walk-off victory of the season. LSU hosts Auburn this weekend.

LSU will show off some of its new passing game on Saturday when the Tigers hold their spring game. Wide receiver Kyren Lacy believes he and the receiving corp are developing good chemistry with first-year starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier…

LSU redshirt freshman edge rusher Jaxon Howard is planning to enter the transfer portal when it opens next week. The Minnesota native played in five games last year and recorded two tackles and one quarterback hurry while playing behind Bradyn Swinson and Dashawn Womack.

The Pelicans are at Sacramento tonight and they have a half a game lead over the Phoenix Suns for the sixth spot in the Western Conference. If New Orleans finishes sixth, they will avoid the play-in tournament. There are three games left in the regular season and if the Pels go 3-0, they will finish in sixth place.

The streak is over! The Ragin Cajuns 16-game winning streak on the baseball diamond ended last night as Louisiana Tech defeated U-L Lafayette seven to two. Tech had 15 hits at the plate, while five Bulldog pitchers combined to strike out 15 Cajun hitters. Cole McConnell was four for four at the plate. The Cajuns host Marshall this weekend, while the Bulldogs will travel to Arizona.

What a game on the softball diamond last night as sixth ranked LSU rallied from a four to nothing deficit to beat Southeastern Louisiana seven to five in eight innings. Karli Petty hit a walk-off three-run home run with two outs. The rally started with two outs and nobody on base. It was Petty’s first home run of the season. Petty had a career-high five R-B-Is.

Today is the first round of the Masters, former LSU golfer Sam Burns is set to tee off at 12:12.

LSU edge rusher Jaxon Howard has reportedly entered the transfer portal. The redshirt freshman from Minnesota played in five games last season as a backup.

In basketball…LSU guard Carlos Stewart has reportedly entered the transfer portal. The Baton Rouge native suffered an injury and only played in 13 games last season, averaging five points a contest.

With three regular season games left, the Pelicans visit Sacramento tonight. New Orlean controls its own destiny in trying to get the sixth seed.

LSU first baseman Jared Jones was the lead-off hitter last night and tied a school record with three home runs as the Tigers easily defeated McNeese 16 to 0. Jones now leads the team with 14 home runs. Freshman Jake Brown hit his first collegiate home run. LSU is at Tennessee this weekend.

The Ragin Cajuns will seek their 17th straight victory tonight when they host Louisiana Tech. 19th ranked U-L Lafayette easily defeated Prairie View 11 to 2 last night. Luke Yuhasz hit two home runs and Trey LaFleur had three hits. Caleb Stelly drove in three runs.

Former Ragin Cajuns pitcher Spencer Arrighetti has received the call to the big leagues and is set to start on the mound tonight for the Houston Astros. Arrighetti was Houston’s Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2023. He was drafted by the Astros in 2021.

Former LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers visits with the Chicago Bears today, who could take a receiver with the ninth overall pick.

Spring football comes to a close for the LSU Tigers on Saturday. One of the big developments during the spring is the decision to move Harold Perkins back to inside linebacker. For LSU’s defense to get back to respectability, Perkins knows he’ll have to be productive…

The Pelicans trailed by three points at halftime last night, but took control in the second half and defeated Portland 110 to 100, Trey Murphy hit five three-pointers and finished with 31 points. C-J McCollum scored 29 against his former team and Zion Williamson had 22 points and seven rebounds. The Pels are at Sacramento tomorrow night, they currently occupy sixth place in the West by one one game over Phoenix with three games left.

LSU Coach Jay Johnson had slugging first baseman Jared Jones lead off last night and Jones did more than just get on base. The sophomore tied an LSU single-game record with three home runs as the Tigers trounced McNeese 16 to 0 in seven innings. Jones hit a solo shot in the first inning, a two-run blast in the third inning and a three-run homer in the fifth inning.

The Cajuns won their 16th straight as U-L Lafayette defeated Prairie View 11 to two. Trey LaFleur had three hits, including a home run and drove in three runs. U-L Lafayette will host Louisiana Tech tonight at six PM.

Also last night, Southern Miss defeated Southeastern Louisiana five to one, Tulane topped UNO seven to four. Collin Tuft homered and drove in three runs. Northwestern State and ULM were postponed because of rain. The same for Grambling-and Jackson State.

Former LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers met with the New York Jets yesterday. Today it’s the Chicago Beas. Tomorrow it will be the Indianapolis Colts.

Troy Murphy scored 17 of his 31 points in the third quarter and the Pelicans defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 110 to 100. With three regular season games left, New Orleans is in sole possession of sixth place in the West, one game ahead of the Suns. The Pels are at Sacramento tomorrow.
