ULM beat up on a bad Alcorn State team 17 to 2 and McNeese lost a heart breaker to Houston nine to eight in ten innings.

The Saints have signed former Lions cornerback Will Harris. to a one year deal. Harris is a former third round pick in 2019 and spent five seasons in Detroit, playing outside corner, slot corner and some safety. In 81 career games, he has two interceptions, two forced fumbles and 14 passes defensed.

LSU men’s basketball has added Richmond graduate guard Dji “jai” Bailey to its roster. Bailey won the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Most Improved Player of the year award. During his four years at Richmond, Bailey averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and nearly two steals per game. Bailey will join Cam Carter from Kansas State and Jordan Sears from UT Martin in the 2024 transfer class.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will travel to take on the New Mexico State Aggies this weekend. The Bulldogs lead Conference USA with an 11-4 record. The LSU Tigers had their hitting shoes on last night as they slugged five home runs on their way to a 26-2 victory over Grambling. The Tigers scored half of their runs in the fourth inning, when they scored 13. Tommy White homered and drove in five runs and Jake Brown also homered and drove in four runs. LSU will host top ranked Texas A-and-M this weekend.

Louisiana Tech scored the first eight runs of the game last night in Monroe and defeated the ULM Warhawks eight to four. Dalton Davis and Cole McConnell homered for the Bulldogs, who have won six in a row.

In other action, it was Nicholls over Southern 12 to four, Southern Miss edged UNO five to four and Tulane topped Southeastern Louisiana 13 to 6.

Tonight, McNeese is at Houston and ULM hosts Alcorn State.

Louisiana Tech is in first place in Conference USA after completing a series sweep over Sam Houston. The Bulldogs won in dramatic fashion yesterday, 12-9 in ten innings. Adarius Myers hit a walk-off three-run homer.

The Cajuns took two of three from Southern Miss and U-L Lafayette has a three-game lead over Troy for first place in the Sun Belt.

LSU left-hander Gage Jump delivered a second consecutive great start as the Tigers opened their series against Auburn with a five to nothing win last night. Jump followed up a 14 strikeout performance last week with seven shutout innings and struck out six Auburn hitters. Tommy White and Hayden Travinski homered for the Tigers who are 6-and-13 in the SEC.

The Ragin Cajuns edged Southern Miss three to two as Andrew Herrmann struck out seven over eight innings. Kyle DeBarge hit a three run homer in the eighth inning for the only scoring for U-L Lafayette.

Old Dominion defeated ULM two to one in 12 innings. Louisiana Tech blanked Sam Houston two to nothing. Cole McConnell drove in both runs and Ethan Bates earned his 13th save while Reed Smith earned his fifth win.

NBA, the Pelicans try to get back into the series against Oklahoma City as the two teams meet at 2:30 at the Smoothie King Center. The Thunder lead two games to none.

During day two of the NFL draft, the Saints moved up four spots in the second round to take Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry with the 41st overall pick. McKinstry was a first-team A-P All-American for the Crimson Tide. During his three-year career at Alabama he had two interceptions and 25 passes defensed. New Orleans gave up a fifth and sixth round pick with Green Bay to move up the four spots to take McKinstry.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are all in on LSU. After selecting former LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas in the first round on Thursday, the Jaguars took ex LSU defensive tackle Maason Smith in the second round.

Also in the second round, Opelousas native and wide receiver Keon Coleman was selected by Buffalo.

There are four teams tied for first after two rounds at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The team of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are at 13-under par and tied for first.

The NFL draft continues tonight with rounds two and three, yesterday the Saints used their first-round draft pick on an offensive tackle, six-foot-six Taliese Fuaga (Tall-ee-s-a Foo-ah-gah) from Oregon State. The first-team All-American did not give up a sack with the Beavers. Fuaga says he’s played football nearly his entire life…
