The ninth ranked LSU women’s basketball team cruised to its seventh straight victory last night as they defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 80-54. Hailey Van Lith had four three-pointers and had a game-high 18 points. Angel Reese had 17 points and 15 rebounds and Aneesah Morrow had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

At the girls state basketball tournament in Hammond, a couple of huge upsets. In Division One non-select, Parkway stunned undefeated and top seeded Walker 64-63 in overtime. Chloe Larry hit a game winning half court buzzer beating shot as the defending champs move on to play Denham Springs in the state title game.

The top seed also went down in division one select as Woodlawn of Baton Rouge defeated Huntington 71-58. The Panthers will face John Curtis on Saturday afternoon in the title game. Curtis beat Liberty in the semifinals 58-47.

The second ranked LSU baseball team will take on 13th ranked Texas tonight at 7 PM at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Both teams have one loss on the year. The Ragin Cajuns are also in Houston and they’ll play Vanderbilt at 3 PM.

As the Lady Tigers begin looking toward the SEC and NCAA Tournaments, many are looking further to the WNBA Draft and whether stars Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith will return to Baton Rouge. Each have one more season of eligibility, but Head Coach Kim Mulkey expects this season to be their last…

In the LHSAA Division-1 Select girls’ basketball playoffs, Baton Rouge’s Woodlawn High upset first-seeded Huntington 71-58 earlier today. They’ll go on to face the winner of John Curtis Christian and Liberty in the championship Saturday.

LSU Baseball run-ruled Rice last night in Houston with a final score of 16-4. The Tigers improved to 8-1 to start the season and will compete in the Astros Foundation Classic this weekend.

Louisiana Tech welcomed new Athletics Director Ryan Ivey to campus Today. Ivey who has over 18 years of intercollegiate athletics experience says he recognizes the challenges schools like Tech face in the current college athletics landscape, but says they’re ready to rise to the occasion…

The LA Tech men’s basketball team came away with their third straight road win last night beating Western Kentucky 90-84. The 21-8 Bulldogs sit atop the Conference USA ahead of a critical home matchup against Sam Houston next Thursday.

The UL-Lafayette Basketball team fell to 17-13 after losing to Troy last night 87-73. The Cajuns will close the regular season tomorrow night against Southern Miss. The winner will clinch the 5th seed in the Sunbelt Conference Tournament next week while the loser falls to 6th.

The third ranked LSU baseball team had an easy 16-4 win over the Rice Owls last night. Catcher Brady Neal hit two home runs and Freshman left-hander pitcher Kade Anderson did not allow an earned run over five innings.

Also last night…Louisiana Tech stayed undefeated with a 13-4 win over McNeese. The Ragin Cajuns beat Northwestern State 14 to 4, South Alabama outscored Nicholls 11 to 10 in ten innings and Southeastern did not allow a hit in a 12-0 win over Mississippi Valley State.

The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball won its fifth straight game last night as they dribbled past Western Kentucky 90-84. Isaiah Crawford led the way with 20 points and Sean Newman Junior had 19.

The Ragin Cajuns late season slide continued last night as U-L Lafayette lost to Troy 87 to 73. Coach Bob Marlin’s team made only one three-pointer, while Troy made nine and the Cajuns were careless with the basketball…

Former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels reportedly met with the Saints at the NFL draft combine. Daniels could be the number two overall pick, but the Saints have the 14th selection in the first round. WWL Radio football analyst Mike Detillier says Saints executives like to speak with the top players in the draft…

Daniels is not working out at the combine in Indianapolis.

The LHSAA has stripped Opelousas High School of its first football state title, which they won last December. The Association says Opelousas used an ineligible player in the Division Two non-select state championship game and during the 2023 season. The school plans to appeal the ruling next month. If the ruling is upheld, the championship title for division two non-select will be vacant.

LSU officials are looking at building a new on campus arena, but it would not just host basketball, volleyball and gymnastics meets. The venue would also host concerts and other entertainment events. Lady Tigers basketball coach Kim Mulkey has lobbied for a new arena, but she’s not a fan of sharing lockerrooms with a musical performer…

LSU says they are in the preliminary stages of financing and building a new arena for sports, music and entertainment. Projected cost is over 300-million dollars.

The Pelicans snapped a two-game losing streak last night with a 115 to 92 win over the New York Knicks. Trey Murphy scored 16 points in the fourth quarter and finished with 26. New Orleans is at Indiana tonight.

For the third time in four games, LSU men’s hoops won a game by one point last night. The Tigers defeated Georgia 67-66 as Will Baker made two free throws with 15 seconds left. The Tigers are now 7-8 in the SEC.

ULM lost to Texas State 73-55.

The Ragin Cajuns will try to snap a three-game losing streak tonight when they host Troy. Coach Bob Marlin’s team is coming off a loss to Southern Miss and the Cajuns lost by six to Troy earlier this season.

In the NFL, the Chiefs have placed the franchise tag on cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. The former Louisiana Tech and Minden Star would make a little over 19-million dollars in 2025.

Another one-point win for the LSU men’s basketball team last night as the Fighting Tigers defeated Georgia 67-66. Will Baker hit two free throws with 15 seconds left and then the Tigers needed a block from Jalen Reed with two seconds left to preserve the victory. Baker finished with 12 points and Jordan Wright led LSU with 17.

The Warhawks had better luck on the diamond as ULM defeated Northwestern State nine to two in Natchitoches. Jake Haggard homered in the win. Nicholls scored three runs in the tenth inning to beat Southern Miss six to five.

The LSU men’s basketball team hosts Georgia tonight at 6 PM. When Coach Matt McMahon met with the media on Monday, he said leading scorer Jalen Cook remains day-to-day with a leg injury. He’s missed the last three games. Also Tyrell Ward is also a day-to-day after hurting his hip in the loss to Mississippi State on Saturday.

ULM is at Texas State tonight. The Warhwks are in a three-way tie for ninth place in the Sun Belt standings at 6-10 in the Sun Belt. The top ten finishers in the conference standings earn a first round-bye in the Sun Belt Tournament. Texas State is 5-11 in league play.

ULM baseball is also in action tonight. The Warhawks visit Northwestern State. Nicholls will take on Southern Miss in Biloxi. Tomorrow…McNeese hosts Louisiana Tech and third ranked LSU visits Rice tomorrow.

CJ McCollum is questionable for the Pelicans tonight as they visit the New York Knicks. New Orleans is looking to snap a two-game losing streak and they are trying to avoid the play-in tournament this year. The Pels are currently in sixth place in the West a half game ahead of Sacramento. The top six teams avoid the play-in tournament and Coach Willie Green says every game means something at this point…

Speaking of taking care of business, McNeese clinched a share of the Southland Conference Regular Season championship with a 58-56 win over Lamar last night. It’s the first championship for the Cowboys in 13 years. They can win an outright championship with a win over Nicholls on Saturday.

The Colonels outscored UIW 92 to 82 last night at Stopher Gymnasium. Nicholls made 18 three-pointers. Robert Brown the Third set a new career-high with 28 points as he went 8 for 8 from three-point land.

After losing two straight, the Pelicans look to get back in the win column tonight when they visit the Knicks. It’s the first of a back-to-back as New Orleans will be at Indiana tomorrow night.

McNeese clinched a share of the Southland Conference regular season championship in dramatic fashion as Antavion Collum hit a three-pointer with less than four seconds left as the Cowboys defeated Lamar 58 to 56 last night. The Cowboys can win an outright title if they beat Nicholls on Saturday.

The Colonels outlasted U-I-W 92-82 last night.

Louisiana Tech’s Isaiah Crawford has been named the Conference USA men’s basketball player of the week. On Saturday, he recorded his third double-double of the season in the Bulldogs win over New Mexico State.

The LSU Lady Tigers are up to number nine in the latest AP Top 25 poll. Also, Angel Reese was named the Naismith National Player of the Week. Reese has recorded at least 15 rebounds in three straight games.

In girls’ high school basketball playoffs…Oakdale held off White Castle 57 to 50. The Lady Warriors will defend their Division Four non-select title when they play Arcadia on Friday. Arcadia defeated Lakeview 60 to 29.

Hailey Van Lith gave LSU women’s basketball a big lift on Sunday as the Lady Tigers defeated Tennessee 75-60. Van Lith scored a season-high 26 points, including four three-pointers on a day when LSU as a team missed 59 shots. It’s been an up and down season for Van Lith, but Coach Kim Mulkey is tired of hearing the criticism…

The win on Sunday locked up the second seed for LSU in the SEC Tournament and they also moved up four spots to number nine in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

After scoring a total of seven runs on Friday and Saturday, the second ranked LSU baseball team defeated Stony Brooke 18 to 10 yesterday. Jared Jones hit his fourth home run. Louisiana Tech improved to 7-0 after they were swept by Kent State.

After back-to-back wins over Top 25 teams, the LSU men’s basketball team had a disappointing night against Mississippi State, losing to the Bulldogs 87-67. Second-chance points were a big stat. Mississippi State had 16 offensive rebounds and had 27 second-chance points to LSU’s ten. Coach Matt McMahon’s team also had 15 turnovers…

The Pelicans dropped their second straight last night as they lost to the Chicago Bulls 114 to 106 at the Smoothie King Center. New Orleans committed 19 turnovers which resulted in 17 fast-break points for the Bulls.

LSU baseball clobbered Stony Brook 18 to 10 and Louisiana Tech is still undefeated after sweeping Kent State.

The LSU men’s basketball team could not come back from another double digit deficit on Saturday and lost to Mississippi State 87 to 67. The Bulldogs also got a big game from Josh Hubbard, who scored a career-high 32 points. The freshman from Madison, Mississippi hit six threes. LSU point guard Trae Hannibal says he didn’t do a good enough job of minimizing Hubbard’s touches…

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball remains in a first place tie with Sam Houston after the Bulldogs defeated New Mexico State 67-58 on Saturday. Tech will wrap up their three-game road trip on Wednesday when they visit Western Kentucky.

Grambling is now in first place in the SWAC after rallying from 17 points down to beat Southern 63 to 57.
