The LSU baseball team took down top ranked Texas A-and-M last night six to four to begin a huge three game series. The Tigers fell behind two to nothing, but took the lead with a four-run sixth inning. Josh Pearson had the big hit, a two-run double. Griffin Herring was money out of the bullpen as he got the final seven outs for his fourth save of the season.

Louisiana Tech won its seventh straight last night, an 18 to 4 win over New Mexico State. The Bulldogs hit seven home runs. Cole McConnell and Jorge (George) Carona each hit two home runs.

The 18th ranked Ragin Cajuns were on the wrong end of a blowout as Troy trounced U-L Lafayette 16 to 5. Andrew Herrmann suffered the loss as he gave up six runs in two innings, but only two of them were earned.

Georgia Southern downed ULM 12 to 4, UNO edged Southeastern four to three, McNeese over Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi seven to three, while Nicholls and Northwestern State lost.

Two former LSU receivers sign with new NFL teams. Odell Beckham Junior has reportedly signed with Miami, after catching 35 passes in Baltimore last season. While DJ Chark agrees to a deal with the Chargers. He had 35 catches in Carolina last year. And former LSU linebacker and Atlanta Falcon Deion Jones has signed with the Bills.

Two of LSU’s top targets at defensive tackle in the transfer portal have committed to other schools. Damonic Williams is heading to Oklahoma and Simeon Barrow is heading to Miami.

LSU is 7-14 in the SEC, while the Aggies are 15-6 in the league and 39 and 6 overall. A-and-M’s starting pitcher tonight, left-hander Ryan Prager is 8-0 with a 2.59 ERA.

The head baseball coach at Walker High School, Nicholas Scelfo faces a felony theft charge for allegedly submitting false invoices totaling almost $30,000 to the school for reimbursement of equipment he never purchased. Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard says they were contacted after school officials conducted an equipment inventory.

The Saints have declined to pick up the fifth-year option on defensive end Peyton Turner. That means Turner will be a free agent after this season. The former first-round pick has not been able to stay healthy. In three NFL seasons, Turner has only appeared in 15 games and has 29 tackles, three sacks, and eight quarterback hits.

One of the top defensive tackles in the transfer portal has committed to Oklahoma after visiting LSU and several other schools. Damonic Williams started 27 consecutive games for the TCU Horned Frogs. During that time, he recorded 60 tackles, nine and a half tackles for a loss, and four and a half sacks.

LSU men’s basketball has announced the signing of guard Vyctorius Miller of Los Angeles, California. The four-star prospect played this past season at Arizona Compass Prep. Coach Matt McMahon says they love Miller’s three-point shooting ability and his versatility to score in a variety of ways. He’s listed as the 42nd-best player in the ESPN high school rankings.

The Saints have signed former Lions cornerback Will Harris. to a one year deal. Harris is a former third round pick in 2019 and spent five seasons in Detroit, playing outside corner, slot corner and some safety. In 81 career games, he has two interceptions, two forced fumbles and 14 passes defensed.

LSU men’s basketball has added Richmond graduate guard Dji (jai) Bailey to its roster. Bailey won the Atlantic 10’s Most Improved Player of the year award. During four years at Richmond, Bailey averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds, and nearly two steals per game. Bailey will join Cam Carter from Kansas State and Jordan Sears from UT Martin in the 2024 transfer class.

D1 baseball released its latest Field of 64 projections and they do not have the LSU Tigers making the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Tigers can greatly improve their chances if they can win this weekend’s series against top ranked Texas A-and-M. D-1 baseball does have U-L and La Tech in a regional.

The 18th ranked Ragin Cajuns baseball team has a tough series this weekend at Troy. UL-Lafayette is currently on top of the Sun Belt standings at 17 and 4 while Troy is 14 and 7. Cajuns Coach Matt Deggs has a healthy respect for the Trojans.

The LSU Tigers had their hitting shoes on last night as they slugged five home runs on their way to a 26-2 victory over Grambling. The Tigers scored half of their runs in the fourth inning, when they scored 13. Tommy White homered and drove in five runs and Jake Brown also homered and drove in four runs. LSU will host top ranked Texas A-and-M this weekend.

Louisiana Tech scored the first eight runs of the game last night in Monroe and defeated the ULM Warhawks eight to four. Dalton Davis and Cole McConnell homered for the Bulldogs, who have won six in a row.

In other action, it was Nicholls over Southern 12 to four, Southern Miss edged UNO five to four and Tulane topped Southeastern Louisiana 13 to 6.

Tonight, McNeese is at Houston and ULM hosts Alcorn State.

Opelousas High School can once again say they are state champions in football. In February, the LHSAA stripped the school of its title over the alleged use of an ineligible player last season, but coach Jimmy Zachery says an agreement with the LHSAA brings the title back to Opelousas…

Grambling just took two of three from Texas Southern. Grambling’s Trevor Hatton was named the SWAC Hitter of the Week as he was six for 11 at the plate with 8 RBIs, three doubles, two home runs and one triple.

A red hot Louisiana Tech travels to ULM tonight. The Bulldogs have won five in a row. The Warhawks are coming off a series loss to Old Dominion.

Tonight is Game Four of the NBA playoff series between the Pelicans and the Thunder. New Orleans needs to win to avoid a sweep. Tip off is at 7:30. The Pels can use some production from Brandon Ingram, he’s yet to score more than 20 points in any game this series.

The LSU Tigers missed out on sweeping Auburn as the Bayou Bengals lost to Auburn seven to five after winning the first two games of the series. The defeat drops LSU’s record to 7-and-14 in the SEC with nine conference games left. The Tigers will host Grambling tomorrow night.

The G-S-U Tigers are a half game back of Texas Southern for first place in the SWAC West after taking two of three from T-S-U.

The Ragin Cajuns dropped one spot in the Top 25 D-1 baseball poll to number 18 after taking two of three from Southern Miss this past weekend.

Louisiana Tech won in walk-off fashion on Sunday to complete a sweep of Sam Houston. The Bulldogs have won five in a row and they are in first place in Conference USA.

The Saints selected five players in the draft on Saturday and the highlight was South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler. Rattler was a five-star recruit coming out of high school in Arizona. He had ups and downs during college but finished at South Carolina throwing for 31-hundred yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions last season.
