The LSU Tigers have started SEC play with a 2 and 7 record and currently have a four game losing streak heading into this weeks series against Vanderbilt. LSU Head Coach Jay Johnson says that the Tigers losses are against Omaha contending teams and that there won’t be many breaks in conference play this season.

In baseball news across the state, McNeese had no trouble against Alcorn State last night. Junior Outfielder Conner Westenburg went 4 for 4 for the pokes and drove in four RBI’s as McNeese won 11 to 4.

And ULM defeated Northwestern State yesterday 10 to 6. The Warhawks were able to score all 10 of their runs with two outs in the inning and the game marked ULM’s first win in Natchitoches since 2013.

The New Orleans Pelicans are still winless in the month of April this season as the Magic defeated the Pelicans 117 to 108. The game marks New Orleans’s third straight loss and Pelicans Head Coach Willie Green says that his team can’t focus on the losses with six games left still to play in the season.

A bill to repeal the state’s income tax beginning in January of 2025 has been filed at the capitol. It’s estimated Louisiana would lose 4.5 billion dollars in revenue if the bill ultimately becomes law. But the bill’s author Columbia Representative Neil Riser says Louisiana could offset the losses by getting rid of dozens of different tax credits and rebates.

Three people living in a makeshift homeless encampment in Jefferson Parish were found shot to death yesterday morning. Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s officials confirmed the three victims, including two women and one man, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were discovered around 10:30 yesterday morning in a wooded area near Scott Street and Shrewsbury Road.

State Corrections says a convicted killer has died following a fight at Angola. Officials say 45-year-old Robert Clark Junior succumbed to his injuries after an altercation with three other inmates. The full House has approved legislation that would make it a crime for a person to be within 25 feet of a working law enforcement officer if they’ve been told to retreat or stop. Opponents raised concerns about constitutional rights and whether onlookers can still get good video of potential police misconduct. Thibodaux Representative Bryan Fontenot says 25 feet is a sufficient distance.
