A tragic ending to an Amber Alert that was issued earlier today, the man who kidnapped two young girls this morning from Loranger has been arrested in Jackson, Mississippi. The Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Office says Daniel Callahan is believed to have killed the girls’ mother, 35-year-old Callie Brunett, with whom he was in a relationship and her four-year-old daughter, Erin Brunette. Authorities say Callahan led officers to his car, where 6-year-old Jalie Brunnett was found alive, and then to the body of 4-year-old.

LSU baseball has been rebuilding its roster after losing nine players to the transfer portal . The Tigers have received commitments from some talented portal players including many successful junior college players like Fullerton Junior College first baseman Trevor Schmidt. Schmidt hit 13 home runs last season and LSU Head Coach Jay Johnson says he can add some power into the Tigers lineup.

Cut 19 (18) “… some power.”

The Tigers have also bolstered their rotation with Zac Cowan and Camden Wicker of Wofford coming to LSU. Cowan was the sophomore ace for Wofford who finished this season with a 10 and 2 record and 124 strikeouts in 110 innings pitched. Wicker was a strong freshman right hander for Wofford who had a 4.28 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 75 innings of work.
