LSU Public Health Climatologist Barry Keim says dewpoint temperatures are what areas like Phoenix would expect, but not South Louisiana.

It has also been detected in a white-tailed buck harvested by a hunter on private land in Catahoula Parish. LDWF Deer Wildlife Manager Jonthan Bordelon says knowing the disease has spread to another parish helps in their efforts to control the spread…

State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting involving the Alexandria Police Department last night. The person shot was taken to a local hospital. No officers were injured in the incident that took place on Willow Glen Street at Third Street.

The deadline to get the REAL ID so you can fly domestically without the need of a passport is May seventh.  Matt Boudreaux with the Office of Motor Vehicles says to help people meet that deadline, the OMV is opening select offices on select Saturdays so that people won’t have to take time off work. Last Saturday was the first of what was originally going to be three Saturdays; and it was such a hit that they’re adding another Saturday this week.

The 12^th seeded McNeese State Cowboys will look to pull off the upset this afternoon as they face fifth seeded Clemson in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Tigers were 18-2 in the A-C-C and have a significant height advantage over McNeese. Coach Will Wade says they must limit Clemson’s shots around the basket.

Two men are dead and a teenager is hospitalized following a triple shooting last night in the Village of Tangipahoa in Tangipahoa Parish. Law enforcement received a call just before six PM about multiple people shot outside of a mobile home. Investigators believe the community is safe and there are no suspects being sought at this time.

Baton Rouge police continue to look for the person responsible for fatally shooting an employee of Our Lady of the Lake in a parking lot across the street from the hospital. Authorities say the gunman waited for the victim to get off of work to shoot her in what’s described as a domestic incident. President of Our Lady of the Lake, Chuck Spicer, is heartbroken by this terrible act of violence…

The hospital was placed on lockdown for about 45 minutes after the shooting.

Eight Office of Motor Vehicle locations will be open this Saturday to give residents a chance to get their REAL ID. OMV spokesperson Matthew Boudreaux says when May 7th rolls around, you will not be able to use your driver’s license to confirm your identity at the TSA checkpoint unless it’s REAL ID compliant.

Phil Cunningham takes over as the new men’s basketball coach at ULM. Cunningham was an assistant for the Warhawks last season and takes over for the retired Keith Richard (ree-SHARD). Cunningham says he plans to win right away at ULM…

A Washington Parish mother is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 8-month-old child. The infant suffered severe injuries, including broken bones. Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown believes mental health issues with 24-year-old Autumn Harper played a significant role, and he hopes to prevent cases like this in the future.

Two reporters gave a minute-by-minute account of last night’s execution of Jessie Hoffman. One of them was WDSU-TV reporter Gina Swanson. She says she saw involuntary body movements a minute after the nitrogen gas started being administered.

Landry says the state has recorded a couple of big economic wins in recent months, including a 10-billion dollar artificial data center that Meta is building in Richland Parish…

WDSU-TV reporter Gina Swanson was one of two reporters who witnessed last night’s execution. Swanson says involuntary body movements stopped a few minutes after they started administering the nitrogen gas.

Governor Landry says he hopes Louisiana’s recent economic wins will ultimately boost the state’s population. More than a decade ago, due to population decline, Louisiana lost a seat in Congress – Landry’s seat. Hoffman was convicted of kidnapping, rape, and murder of Molly Elliot, and her husband Andy Elliot said, “There is relief that this long nightmare is over bus also renewed grief for Molly and sadness for Mr. Hoffman’s family.”

A Washington Parish mother faces a first-degree murder charge after her 8-month-old infant died from severe injuries, including broken bones. The investigation began last Wednesday when the infant was brought to a hospital and later died from the injuries. A Washington Parish mother is charged with first-degree murder after her 8-month-old died from severe injuries. The investigation began last Wednesday when the toddler was brought to the hospital and later died. Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown says investigators questioned the boyfriend and the mother.

Twenty-four-year-old Autumn Harper is being held at the Washington Parish Jail.

We’re getting details of exactly what went on in the execution chamber as Jessie Hoffman was being put to death. Advocate reporter John Simerman was one of two media witnesses to last night’s execution. Simerman says Hoffman was already strapped to the gurney with a gas mask covering his entire face when the curtain opened at 6:20.

After Hoffman declined to say any last words, the nitrogen gas flowed for 19 minutes. Hoffman was pronounced dead at 6:50.

Governor Landry says the state has achieved a couple big economic wins in recent months, including an 18-billion-dollar expansion of an LNG plant in Plaquemines Parish. In an interview on Talk 107-3 in Baton Rouge, Landry said he’s on the verge of a couple of other big announcements…
