A federal judge is expected to rule Friday on a new law that critics of the legislation say will force Louisiana’s five abortion clinics to close. The law in question was passed by the state legislature earlier this year and it goes into effect Monday. It requires doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. The Center for Reproductive Rights filed the court challenge last week, claiming not enough time was given for doctors to get responses from hospitals.

Louisiana State Police says a Delcambre (dell-come) woman succumbed to her injuries after a single vehicle crash this week evening in Iberia Parish. They say 41-year-old Amy Noel lost control of her car on La 14 and crashed into a culvert on the drivers side of the vehicle. She was airlifted to a hospital and LSP was notified yesterday that she passed away.

The South Plaquemines High School student who was suspended because of his religiously mandated hairstyle, has been allowed to return to class. The student is a follower of the Rastafari religion and is required not to cut his hair. Not surprisingly the teacher who is accused of having sex with a former student and a juvenile 16-year-old student has been fired from her job at Riverdale Christian Academy in Baton Rouge.
