Deputies in Ascension Parish say a Prairieville man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly ramming his estranged wife’s car over and over while she was inside with another man. The driver, 31-year-old Sommer Pierson, Naveah’s mother, and another passenger are hospitalized with moderate injuries. The driver of the other vehicle also received moderate injuries. The investigation is ongoing, although authorities do not suspect impairment to be a factor.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that an inmate being held at the parish jail committed suicide over the weekend. Authorities say a 16-year-old male inmate was found hanged in his cell just before midnight Saturday night. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead by medical staff. An officer involved shooting in Iberville Parish has left a 36-year-old man dead. The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened in a rural area near Bayou Pigeon last night. As deputies were attempting to locate Shaun Wilson Ramo, who had been accused of raping a woman in the area, he aimed his rifle at the deputies, who then fired on the subject. Ramo was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police are investigating.
