The investigation into a fatal officer shooting in Pineville has ruled it to be justified. Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Tommy Carnline says Pineville Police Officer Vince Deville shot and killed Christopher Leblanc after Leblanc charged at him with a large sword. He says Deville responded to a tense, uncertain, evolving situation and performed in accordance with his training and the law…

Detectives say the sword Leblanc was holding was 38-inches long with a slight curve and extremely sharp.

US Representative Vance McAllister has reportedly put his chief of staff on temporary leave after being booked with a DWI. Adam Terry was arrested in Richland Parish. The arrest affidavit says Terry was stopped near Rayville, smelled of alcohol and did not perform well on a sobriety test. He also refused a breathalyzer test. McAllister says if Terry gets the help he needs and fulfills his court requirements, he will be given a second chance in his office.

According to a Fox News poll, in a Senate primary Senator Mary Landrieu showed 31% support, Republican Bill Cassidy has 35% and tea-party favorite Rob Maness has 7%. The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s office says a 27-year-old woman from Washington is now arrested with two counts of the attempted first degree murder of her parents. They say Jamie Kristen Fontenot allegedly shot her father who is in critical condition, and mother who was treated and released from the hospital. Deputies report finding the suspect sitting calming on the porch with a gun following the shooting which remains under investigation.

US Representative Vance McAllister has reportedly put his chief of staff on temporary leave after being booked with a DWI last weekend. The Congressman says Adam Terry was arrested in Richland Parish.

LSU now has one of the largest freshman classes in the university’s history and overall enrollment stands at 30,451.

A new poll conducted by Fox News shows Republican US-Senate candidate Bill Cassidy with a substantial lead over the incumbent Democrat Mary Landrieu in a head-to-head matchup. Well the survey showing Landrieu with just 38% is raising eyebrows. ULM Political Science Professor Joshua Stockley says so many other polls on this race show Landrieu in the mid to upper 40s..:

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s office says they are looking for a Hessmer man they believe shot his wife yesterday. They say 48-year-old Scott Daigrepont allegedly shot through a car with a 12-gauge shotgun when his wife, 45-year-old Kelly Daigrepont was hit. She was transported to a local hospital and her condition is unknown. The suspect remains at large.

State Police says the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles recently finished an aggressive 40-day initiative to install more than 400 credit card stations at DMVs throughout the state. The West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero said Thursday that two of the people who got extremely ill on board a ship from West Africa are in stable condition while a third is in guarded condition. The ship moved from Belle Chasse to the Port of Orleans yesterday. DHH confirmed that at least one person tested positive for malaria which is a mosquito-borne disease and is not contagious.

Author of the study, David Hartgen, says Louisiana’s highways rank 44th in fatality rate and it also gets poor marks for the percentage of deficient bridges….

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s office says a United States Postal worker is under arrest for allegedly stealing marijuana from packages he was supposed to be delivering. St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says they got the call of shots fired at the residence yesterday, then found 27 year-old Jamie Fontenot on the porch holding a firearm. Her 59 year-old father is in critical condition, while her 58 year-old mother was treated and released.
