The study calculated figures assuming tolls start at 18-cents a mile and then rise to 25-cents a mile over 15 years.

A Lafayette district judge has ruled that Louisiana’s ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. It is reported that the state’s Attorney General’s Office has already initiated an appeal to Judge Edward Rubin’s ruling. Legal analyst Tim Meche expects this to go to the Louisiana Supreme Court. Police in Vinton say they are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man allegedly at the hands of his neighbor. They say Daniel Kight is booked with second degree murder in the death of 56-year-old David Scasino of Vinton. Apparently the two had a past history of having disputes where cops had to get involved. Kight’s being held on $500,000 bond.

A new Veterans Cemetery will be built in Rayville after a $7.3 million dollar grant was approved to fund the site. Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary David Lacerte says the property is located near I-20 off Highway 425 and spans about 50 acres. New Orleans Police are investigating the discovery of the deaths of a young child and a woman whose bodies were along Interstate 10. They say the bodies were at I-10 W along the Old Gentilly on ramp. The cause of death is undetermined at this time. Crews cutting the grass called police after making the discovery. Initial reports indicate the the woman and child had been there for several days.
