With a week of campaigning to go, Democratic incumbent Mary Landrieu is making a big issue over time sheets that possibly show her opponent, Republican Bill Cassidy, was paid by the LSU Health Sciences Center for work he never did. Landrieu says 16 statements that have been made public are full of inconsistencies…:

US-Senator David Vitter says he no longer supports Common Core. Vitter had said he supported the education standards but now says he’s talked to thousands of parents and teachers who don’t like it and feel it doesn’t give Louisiana enough control. He says we should get out of Common Core and establish our own state system of standards and testing.

Secretary of State Tom Schedler says 221-thousand voters casted ballots during the early voting period that ended Saturday. Schedler says they averaged over 44-thousand votes a day which is great..:

He’s optimistic we’ll see voter turnout at 40-percent election day Saturday.

Louisiana State Police say a husband is dead and his wife is in serious condition after the motorcycle the were riding collided with a deer Saturday night near Leesville. They say 53-year-old Gordon Bolton and his passenger, 57-year-old Monika Bolton were ejected when they crashed into the animal in Vernon Parish. Mr. Bolton was pronounced dead at a hospital and his wife is recovering from serious injuries. Both were wearing helmets.

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office says a Marksville woman was found dead in her home last night and a search is on for her husband. Authorities found 46-year-old Laura Williams dead due to an apparent stabbing. Deputies are now looking for 48-year-old Dennis Williams. Dennis was last seen wearing jeans and a blue button down shirt. He is described as 6’1″ and weighing 220 pounds. If you have any information about his whereabouts, you are asked to contact the sheriff’s office.

State Police say a man was killed and his wife seriously injured when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a deer near Leesville. They say 53-year-old Gordon Bolton was killed and 57-year-old Monika Bolton was injured after both thrown from the bike as a result of the collision. Authorities say both were wearing helmets. The investigation is ongoing.

Training has begun for State Police Cadet Class #93 to earn the privilege of wearing the “gold boot” badge of the Louisiana State Police. State Police graduated Cadet Class #92 in May and added 46 troopers to the roster. Trooper Jared Sandifer says this new cadet class will go through 20 weeks of intense training…

She says there are some -quote -serious allegations being made against Cassidy for alleged fraud and double dipping in his pay, and she wants him to bring the documentation to the televised debate Monday night.

A Church Point woman and her two children that had been missing since Tuesday have been found found safe. Church Point Police said Tabatha Citizen and her two children , went walking Tuesday with her 4-year-old child and her 7-month-old baby, and family members were concerned when the mom and her kids did not return.
