The November 4th primary election is next Tuesday and polls still show a considerable amount of undecided voters. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says you can expect both Democrats and Republicans to concentrate on their “ground game” and “get out the vote” strategies. He says these are being discussed as “game changers”, but Pinsonat isn’t so sure about that…

Louisiana State Police say a head-on collision in Assumption Parish has taken the life of a 10-year-old girl and sent three others to the hospital. Authorities say Neveah Pierson of Gray was killed when the vehicle she was traveling in crossed the center line and struck another car yesterday afternoon. The driver, 31-year-old Sommer Pierson, Naveah’s mother, and another passenger are hospitalized with moderate injuries. The driver of the other vehicle also received moderate injuries. The investigation is ongoing, although authorities do not suspect impairment to be a factor.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that an inmate being held at the parish jail committed suicide over the weekend. Authorities say a 16-year-old male inmate was found hanged in his cell just before midnight Saturday night. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead by medical staff. His identity has not been released.

An officer involved shooting in Iberville Parish has left a 36-year-old man dead. The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened in a rural area near Bayou Pigeon last night. As deputies were attempting to locate Shaun Wilson Ramo, who had been accused of raping a woman in the area, he aimed his rifle at the deputies, who then fired on the subject. Ramo was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police are investigating.

In Lafayette, a man is dead after veering of the road on his motorcycle, striking a mailbox, and being thrown from his bike. Twenty-year-old Justin Rice of Lafayette died from his injuries, and that crash is still under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department.
