Governor Bobby Jindal doesn’t appear to be doing so hot at this point in the latest Republican presidential polls. Louisiana Oil and Gas Association President Don Briggs says the current state of the industry in Louisiana is not pretty. He says the declining prices of crude oil has caused the Oil and Gas industry to hit record lows in several areas in the past year. Briggs says the number of working drilling sites in the state has taken a huge hit…

We’re continuing to follow the developing situation in north Louisiana as a shooting has been reported near Grambling and the suspects are at large. There are few details available at this time, but Louisiana Tech’s tweeting that police are searching for the suspects north of their Ruston campus. Authorities did say the shooting did not happen on a school campus.

LSU Head Coach Les Miles says he’s doing fine after visiting the hospital — adding he just had a little too much coffee after not having it in his diet for a few months. Miles missed his weekly Lunch With Les press conference on Monday but returned to campus in the afternoon for practice…:

The American Automobile Association says the current statewide average for a gallon of regular is $2.16. That’s almost 25 cents less than the month before.

There’s reportedly been a shooting in Grambling and cops are investigating what’s said to be an incident between a male and female. No injuries have been reported, but apparently the Grambling Police Department, State Police and the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office are using a helicopter in search of the male suspect. Louisiana Tech was put on notice as the man was reportedly headed toward Ruston…but campus is not on lockdown. We’ll have more on this situation as it develops.

In the case of Planned Parenthood’s federal lawsuit against Governor Bobby Jindal over his decision to cut their Medicaid payments at clinics in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, the US Justice Department is siding with the organization. Court documents show the DOJ has not seen “sufficient reasons” to keep Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast from receiving funding. A federal judge is set to hear the case tomorrow.

State Police is working to identify a cyclist who was killed when another vehicle ran into the back of her bike last night in Tangipahoa Parish. Investigators say the bicycle had no lamps or rear facing reflectors and the unidentified cyclist was wearing dark clothing when a car hit her from behind. The cyclist died on scene. She is described as a white female possibly in her 20s with long brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on this incident s urged to contact authorities.

And speaking of Tiger football, LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva announces the band OneRepublic will perform during the halftime show of the Florida game in Death Valley on October 17th. He also says in the coming days, another world-renowned act will be announced to perform at another SEC home game. In an effort to get more residents registered to vote, Secretary of State Tom Schedler announces this week as Voter Registration Week. An investigation is underway after Shreveport Police discovered a body inside a burned truck early this morning. They say the body was discovered in the driver’s seat of the vehicle along I-49. Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze and are investigating the fire as suspicious. Authorities say the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office is working to identify the remains.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s office has arrested Zachary Bench of Vinton in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Jody Barlow of Stark. Sheriff Tony Mancuso says believes the motive of the murder was robbery. He says the investigation found Barlow’s truck, utility vehicle, and trailer were missing along with guns, an iPad, and other personal items…

Three people have been arrested in Ascension Parish after allegedly striking moving vehicles with full one-gallon water jugs. Sheriff’s Office Lt. Col.
