Today during a Lt. Governor candidate forum in Baton Rouge, Democrat Mayor Kip Holden and Republican Senator Elbert Guillory duked it out over Guillory’s use of the N-Word in his campaign commercials. Holden said he doesn’t feel that it does anyone any good to throw the word around like that. Guillory responded calling Holden an idiot who obviously didn’t watch the commercial.

The Shreveport Police Department announces a $5,000 reward is now being offered for murdered officer Thomas LaValley’s department issued weapon which is still missing. Officer LaValley was shot and killed in the line of duty early August allegedly by 27-year-old Grover Cannon. Authorities say the reward will be given to anyone who has information as to where the missing Glock 22, .40 caliber handgun can be found.

There’s some more rough news for the Louisiana oil and gas industry. Moody’s Investors says the low oil prices will likely force another round of cuts from the drilling budgets of the largest companies next year. Oil prices are currently around the $47 per barrel mark. Moody’s included a US benchmark oil price of $52 per barrel in 2016.

It’s almost flu season again so that means it’s time to get your flu shot. The Center for Disease Control’s Flu Expert Michael Jhung says last year’s flu season was a rough one so if the vaccination is available, you should get one as soon as possible. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer involved shooting which sent the suspect to the hospital. They say a 911 call came in about a woman who was possibly being held against her will in Baker, and when deputies responded they encountered an armed man. That’s when law enforcement fired upon the suspect and he was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries according to authorities. The names of those involved have not been released.

In the under card CNN GOP presidential debate Wednesday evening, when candidates were ask about their views on immigration, Governor Bobby Jindal received a loud applause for his call for immigrant assimilation…:

Authorities say an officer involved shooting in Alexandria has left one man dead. They say 27-year-old Bobby Anderson of Alexandria was shot and killed by a US Marshals Violent Offender Task Force member while they were attempting to serve arrest warrants. It’s reported that Anderson was armed and threatening officers which resulted in a Task Force member firing his weapon. Anderson was wanted for two counts of attempted second degree murder and several other felony charges.

A federal judge in Baton Rouge denied Governor Bobby Jindal’s request to block federal officials from penalizing the state if Louisiana decides to stop using the Common Core education standards. Judge Shelly Dick rejected the governor’s motion for a preliminary injunction, because Jindal’s lawyers didn’t show any evidence that such a threat will occur.

The National Center for Health Statistics says that youngsters between the ages of 12 to 19 ate twice as many calories from fast food as children ages two to 11. The Grambling State University family is mourning the loss of Doris Robinson, the spouse of the late Legendary Coach Eddie Robinson, Sr. Family members report that Mrs. Robinson passed away peacefully at 8 a.m. this morning after a brief illness at the age of 96. Grambling head football coach Broderick Fobbs says Mrs. Robinson always looked at the GSU football players as her own kids…:

Two more lawmakers have been added to the list of those who will be running without opposition in the October 24th primary. The state House says Hammond Representative Chris Broadwater and Covington Representative Paul Hollis both had challengers who have decided not to run for the office. The number of legislators in the lower chamber who do not have opponents is 51 out of 105.
