The New Orleans Police Department says Napleonville Senator Troy Brown was arrested over the weekend and charged with domestic abuse battery for allegedly punching a woman. Brown has released a statement that says he doesn’t remember what happened due to alcohol consumption and a car accident he was in in 1991.

They say using private wireless connections that are password protected are best, and the website you’re buying from is secure before you enter your credit card information. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says a teenager came home from a hunting trip over the weekend, and discovered her step-father, mother and two young half brothers dead in an apparent murder suicide. He says they believe 46-year-old David Mata stabbed to death his 40-year-old wife and their two boys, age 2 and 4, before taking his own life.

How did Les Miles keep his job as head coach of the LSU football team. It appeared Miles was coaching his final game on Saturday, but after the victory, AD Joe Alleva announced The Mad Hatter will return. Tiger Rag Editor Cody Worsham says it looks like LSU’s president saved Miles’ job…:

State Senator Troy Brown issues a statement regarding his arrest in New Orleans over the weekend. NOPD says Brown was arrested with Domestic Violence with Simple Battery for allegedly punching a woman in the face. Brown contends alcohol consumption after the Bayou Classic and brain damage from a car accident in the 90’s played a role in his arrest.

Shreveport Police say a man is dead and another hospitalized following a fight over a woman. They say during the altercation one of the men pulled a gun and a struggle to control the gun ensued and both men were shot. 20-year-old Ladarrius Lee died at a local hospital and 24-year-old Laderris Anderson was listed in critical condition, at last report. Investigators learned that the woman was in a relationship with each man and they confronted each other at her residence.

The Attorney General’s Office has some tips to keep online holiday shoppers secure. Assistant Attorney General Lisha Landry advises consumers to always pay by credit card rather than using money orders or debit because there is an added protection. She says make sure to keep records after making online purchases…

A UL-Lafayette Anthropologist is trying to find the burial grounds of the first Acadians in an effort to discover the location of their colony. Mark Rees says says they believe the colony was set up along Bayou Teche in Iberia Parish around Loreauville. Rees says they plan to exhume the graves that possibly belong to the first Acadians, but says they are approaching this in a cautious way…

Brown has released a statement that says the incident occurred in New Orleans, but doesn’t remember the details of what transpired. Brown says he’s had issues with short term memory loss as a result of a car accident he was in 1991 and plans to consult a neurosurgeon to see if social alcohol consumption is affecting his cognitive functions.

Today, Governor-Elect John Bel Edwards will be at the 2015 Bayou Classic in New Orleans. He will attend a number of events surrounding the game against Grambling State University and Southern University in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Edwards will also be a part of the official coin toss at 4:05 p.m.

This weekened will be a wet one for north Louisiana as a cold front crosses the country. Davyon Hill, with the National Weather Service in Shreveport, says the rain will continute thoughout the day and won’t stop for the next fews days. He says parts of Claiborne, Webster, Bossier Caddo and DeSoto parishes could see anywhere between two to five inches of rain.

State Police say Thanksgiving began with five fatalities on the road in two different wrecks. Trooper Melissa Mately says early Thursday morning a single vehicle crash in Plaquemines Parish caused the death of the driver and two passengers.

New Orleans Police say a New Orleans man was shot to death this morning just after 1:30 on Bourbon Street. Police were patrolling the area and heard gunshots. Officer Gary Flot says when police arrived on scene, they found the victim on the ground with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to a hospital and later died. Authorities are working to discover a motive to the shooting and are interviewing witnesses.
