Hebert these businesses were running an operation that was a threat to public safety, which is why their liquor licenses were suspended…

The Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a drug bust has led to the arrest of one and the seizure of five pounds of high grade marijuana. Authorities say the marijuana was found at the home of 44-year-old Rufus Edmonds of Bastrop, along with a thousand dollars cash and drug paraphernalia. Edmonds is charged with third offense of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute among other charges. The marijuana has a street value of $40,000.

Slidell police say they are trying to determine who killed a family dog by placing a bag around its head. The deceased canine was found inside a home and it appears someone broke into the residence to kill the dog. Authorities say the homeowner recently received social media threats from an individual and had his property vandalized prior to the dog’s death.

The US Guard says they are investigating a report of a debris field off the coast of Mississippi in connection with a missing aircraft which is believed to have a Louisiana man on board. They say there were three people on the plane which has not been on radar since 12:30 Monday. The Coast Guard was notified last night and several agencies are assisting in the search. The flight reportedly first picked up a man in Ruston.

A teen from Hammond has been arrested for allegeldy posting a cartoon on online last night which was threatening to area schools. Cops say the image depicted a character with a gun saying if would be best if you don’t go to school in Hammond the next day. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards says there was no credibility to the threat and the teen is charged with terrorizing…:

The heavy rainfall and strong winds we saw this past weekend has created some headaches for sugarcane farmers as they harvest their crop. LSU Ag Center sugarcane specialist, Kenneth Gravois, says the wet harvesting conditions make it more difficult and costly for the farmers and also slick roads cause problems as the crops head to the mills…:

The Louisiana governor’s November 21st runoff has already started getting nasty just a few days after the primary. Republican David Vitter is tying Democrat John Bel Edwards to President Obama’s policies and Edwards is running spots calling Vitter dishonest. UL-Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says not only will the two candidates be throwing barbs at each other with commercials, so will outside groups, which could make it tough on TV viewers…:

In addition to the governor’s race, also going into a runoff are the Lt. Governor’s and Attorney General’s races. Four of 39 Senate seats are still racing and so are 15 of the 105 seats in the lower chamber.

The State Office of Alcohol Tobacco Control and State Police say a major strip club undercover operation on Bourbon Street has resulted in 5 establishments losing their liquor licenses.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of a 14-year-old in the case of the social media threats made last night against Hammond area schools. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards says the juvenile posted a cartoon character holding a gun saying it would be best if you don’t go to school in Hammond tomorrow, allegedly. Edwards says they believe he had no intention to carry out the threat…:

The News Star is reporting that a local businessman was one of the passengers on the plane that went missing off the Mississippi Gulf Coast on Monday. The report indicates Gerald Miletello of RMR Mechanical out of West Monroe, was picked up in Ruston before the aircraft headed south. The U.S. Coast Guard said Tuesday afternoon the search is considered an active rescue mission.

Politico reports Republican David Vitter is running an ad which says Democrat John Bel Edwards wants to release thousands drug dealers and criminals from prison. The Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Control issued emergency suspensions of five strip clubs on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter after they discovered prostitution and drug activity. They say the action follows a month-long investigation called Operation Trick or Treat. State Police assisted in the investigation and uncovered prostitution, drugs, and lewd and improper acts at the strip clubs. They say at least 7 other businesses are facing charges.

In the November 21st runoff election, voters will decide who will become the next Lt. Governor. The election pits Democrat Kip Holden against Republican Billy Nungesser. Holden, who took first place in the primary, says although this is your standard Republican versus Democrat runoff election, old style party politics will not work here…:

Secretary of State Tom Schedler says only 39% of voters in Louisiana turned in a ballot for the primary Saturday and he hopes to see much more show up for the November election. He says there are another 153 races to be decided statewide in addition to the headliners of governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General. Early voting begins November 7th.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish School System website, an arrest has been made in the case of the threats against Hammond area schools last night via social media. It indicates the juvenile confessed to posting the threatening message. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and Hammond Police conducted a sweep of various campuses this morning but they say no contraband was found. School officials say normal activities may resume.

The massive amounts of rainfall we’ve had in Louisiana over the past several days has been hurting the sugarcane industry as farmers harvest their crop. LSU Ag Center sugarcane specialist, Kenneth Gravois, says sugarcane farmers are equipped to handle the wet conditions in the field, but its still has a negative financial impact for producers…:
