The state Department of Revenue is reminding some taxpayers that they have until September 6th to claim their tax refund. LDR Spokesperson Byron Henderson says if you miss the deadline, visit the State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property website for more information. He says there are many reasons why these checks have remained unclaimed.

Calcasieu Public Library officials are warning residents not to use the eclipse glasses distributed at their branches. Residents are asked to throw the glasses away because “they may not be suitable for use during the eclipse.” In a statement, officials say they’ve received notice that there may be a defect in the glasses and we don’t want to take any chances in harming any of our patrons.

Gas prices seem to be leveling off after peaking over the last few weeks, according the GasBuddy. Patrick DeHann with GasBuddy expects gas prices to continue this trend for the next few weeks before they drop in mid to late September. Louisiana National Flood Insurance Program policyholders have received more than $2.4 billion in insurance payments during the year after the August 2016 flood.
