The decision came as a joint recommendation by prosecutors and defense attorneys in the aftermath of a Supreme Court ruling that makes it more difficult to convict public officials of bribery.

An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury has indicted Kenneth Gleason, a white man accused of murdering two black men and shooting into the home of a black family in September. The 23-year-old is charged with one count each of second and first-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder in the incidents police have described as possibly racially motivated.

US Senator John Kennedy says he will back President Donald Trump’s nomination for the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals, Kyle Duncan of Louisiana. Duncan appeared before the Senate Judiciary committee on Wednesday, Kennedy sits on the panel and his support means it’s likely Duncan will be confirmed.
