Someone in Eunice hit the Powerball jackpot when they bought a ticket worth 1919 million dollars. Louisiana Lottery Spokesperson Kim Chopin says the winning ticket was sold at Brownie’s on West Maple Ave. She says the Louisiana Lottery gives the store a bonus for selling jackpot winning tickets.

Police say the man who murdered a woman in Pineville last week is the same person who allegedly killed and burned two people in a ditch off Old Boyce Road the same day. Rapides Sheriff William Hilton says Matthew Sonnier faces multiple charges of first degree murder and his sister was also arrested. He says Ebony Sonnier’s charges could result in the death penalty for the death of the two men found burned in a ditch.

The Board of Regents is requesting 192 million dollars more in state funding for public colleges in 2018.
