State District Court Judge Richard Anderson called the case against 65-year-old Wilbert Jones weak and authorities withheld evidence that could have exonerated him decades ago. Jones’ family says they’ll have gumbo ready for him when he gets out.

A Baton Rouge attorney has been arrested for the second time in as many months on child pornography charges. 36-year-old Victor Loraso, who lives in Covington, is charged with 20 different counts involving possession and distribution of sexual abuse images or videos of minors. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail, and released on a 150-thousand-dollar bond.

Cops have killed three people over a four day period in Louisiana. LSU Criminologist Dr. Peter Scharf says a big topic that not many people consider is how defunding mental health services can increase the number of people killed by law enforcement…:

Martinez hopes the low cost of living in north Louisiana will convince companies to do business along the I-20 corridor.

The Cost of Living Index shows that if an individual earned 50-thousand dollars in Denver, Colorado, they would only need to early a little over 40-thousand in Shreveport and 43-thousand in Monroe. State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in which they say a Baton Rouge cop shot and killed a man during a struggle when escorting a state child welfare case worker. Senior Trooper Bryan Lee says, despite rumors circling social media, the man who was killed was not handcuffed when he was shot….:

The LaFourche Parish Council is issuing a proclamation marking the 130th anniversary of the Thibodaux Massacre. The incident occurred on November 23, 1887.  Next Thursday, there will be a moment of silence in Thibodaux to mark the anniversary of the slaughter. 1887 Memorial president John DeSantis hopes the event will raise awareness about a project he is involved with to locate the victims of the massacre and have them properly buried.  They know where they are at, they just need to raise the funds for the Going Home Project…
