About 75 firefighters and medics from around Louisiana that make up the state’s Urban Search and Rescue taskforces left this morning for Florida to assist with first responders there who will likely have to perform water rescues as a result Hurricane Michael. This means once the birds grow up, they might not stick around our bayou.

18-year-old Mason Andrews of Monroe is now the youngest person to ever circumnavigate the globe in an airplane after returning home over the weekend from a journey around the world that began July 22^nd. Andrews says the adventure was taxing at times, and that the scariest part of his journey was over Saudi Arabia, where he had to be locked in during a dangerous bout of weather for nearly half a day.
