The Bossier Parish School System says counselors and other support staff have been hard at work since the weekend helping families cope with the trauma associated with allegations that a teacher preyed on students. Psychologist Grady Bray says difficult conversations will be needed in the days ahead.

47-year-old Aubrey Norcross of Bossier City was arrested last week on charges of video voyeurism and rape involving two students at Benton.

Two children are dead today following a late night mobile home fire in the Belle Chase area.  The call came in to the Belle Chase Volunteer Fire Department just before 10PM about the blaze on Hwy 23.  State Fire Marshal spokesperson, Ashley Rodrigue, says a total of five people were in the home at the time of the fire.

With flu season starting soon, the Louisiana Health Department has scheduled flu vaccine clinics around the state, including one today in Thibodaux. Louisiana immunization director Dr. Frank Welch says the flu vaccine clinics are a test run for a more serious health emergency.

The state health department will administer mass flu shots in Alexandria tomorrow, Jena on Wednesday and in Marksville, Jonesville Winnfield and Lafayette on Thursday.

Two children died and three others sustained injuries in a mobile home fire in Belle Chasse last night. The victims are reportedly nine and seven years old. A cause of the blaze has not been determined and the state fire marshal’s office says it appears the home did not have working smoke alarms.

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center anticipates a weak El Nino will help produce wetter than normal conditions for Louisiana this winter. State Climatologist Barry Keim says during El Nino winters, storm systems tend to form in the Gulf of Mexico…

A tip from the Sabine Parish Sherriff’s Office led to the arrest of a man in Waveland, Mississippi, who allegedly killed 23-year-old Lynnquithis January of Many. January was killed June 18th at an apartment complex. Joe Dewil, with the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s office, says the suspect, 23-year-old Darrell Williams Junior, was living in Mississippi at the time he committed the crime, so the investigation involved multiple departments across two states.

A Bossier Parish elementary substitute school teacher has been charged with rape in a case involving one of Benton Elementary School’s students. 47-year-old Aubrey Norcross of Bossier City was arrested earlier this week on video voyeurism of another student. She’s being held at the Bossier Maximum Security Facility on a bond of 900,000 dollars.

It may be a warmer than normal winter outlook across most of the country, but forecasts say Louisiana will be in for an average Bayou Winter, with above average rain totals. State Climatologist Barry Keim says that’s due to the likely presence of a weak El Nino that’s sending cloudy weather our way.

That means more heavy rain storms across the season than usual, and for those excited about a greater possibility of snow due to the higher than average rainfall totals, Keim says that’s less likely due to hotter temperatures up north keeping that snowy Canadian weather away.

A woman who says she was raped 20 years ago recognizes her alleged rapist at a wedding reception last June and now that man is behind bars. 38-year-old John Louis Davis of Baker has been charged with aggravated rape after the woman got his name and contacted authorities. Baton Rouge Police Sergeant Don Coppola says they believe they got the right guy…
