Anthony Davis has reportedly submitted an official trade request to the Pelicans, and has informed the team that he will not be resigning with the franchise after his contract expires in 2020.

It’s a sharp turn of events for the Pels, who appeared to be on their way to contention for the first time since the end of the Chris Paul era after last year’s series sweep of the Portland Trailblazers. But now the team sits 13^th in the West at 22 and 28, Davis is injured, and the big market vultures are circling the carcass of a franchise that has failed to achieve sustained success despite possessing one of the top five players in the NBA.

Earlier this season, Davis was spotted at dinner with Lebron James, where James reportedly pitched the star forward on coming out West to join him in LA. The rumor mill is also putting the 76ers in the mix as well. Boston has long been thought to be a front runner for The Brow’s services, but any trade would have to wait until the summer due to league rule.

And in better basketball news, the LSU Tigers are now ranked 19th in the nation after a come from behind victory of Missouri over the weekend.

There’s a chance residents in north and central Louisiana could wake up to a light snowfall tomorrow. The nearly six-thousand federal workers in Louisiana are feeling a sense of relief this morning as there has been a temporary end to the government shutdown. President Donald Trump signed into law legislation that re-opening the federal government through February 15th, but during that time he expects legislation to arrive on his desk that funds a border wall.

Hundreds of Louisiana families are looking to get back to work now that President Donald Trump has signed funding bills to reopen the government after it was shutdown for 35 days. The president did not get his wish for border wall funding and the legislation approved only keeps government open through February 15th.

Hours before a vote to end the government shutdown, Louisiana Republican Senator Bill Cassidy took to the Senate floor demanding answers from the NFL regarding last Sunday’s missed pass interference call. Lafayette authorities arrested a 17-year-old student at Comeaux High School who had a gun and what officers say was a large amount of ammunition on campus. Lafayette Police say resource officers began their investigation after learning about a potential threat to the school. Cole Ransonet was booked and charged with firearm possession in a firearm free zone.
