Missing Port Barre teen, Domeanna Spell, has been found. Authorities located the 15-year-old and 47-year-old Cory Shane Disotell in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The Port Barre Police Department says they were informed of her discovery by the FBI around 2 p.m. Disotell is being charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, but additional charges from other agencies, including the FBI, are expected.

Though 36,000 felons had their voting rights restored in March, data from the secretary of state’s office did not show an uptick in the number of felons who registered to vote compared to February. The new law allows felons on probation or parole to register to vote if they have not been incarcerated for at least five years. Voter registration may pick up as the Governor’s race continues.

Casco was driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash. The Advocate reports Casco was on his way to pick up inmates and it is unclear how the Deputy was allowed to drive an agency vehicle with a suspended license.

The Louisiana Survey says 67 percent of Louisiana residents would support raising the gas tax by five cents to pay for road projects and infrastructure repairs. Director of LSU’s Public Policy Research Lab, Dr. Mike Henderson, says it’s a bipartisan public sentiment that reflects the survey’s other revelation that infrastructure is a top two concern for voters.

The report found that when respondents were informed that the gas tax was 38.5 cents when combining local and federal rates, support declined to 61 percent.

Investigators have made an arrest in the shooting of an Abbeville Police Officer. 29-year-old Nashon Ishamael Brooks was captured in Lafayette Parish after following up on many leads. Agencies involved include the US Marshals, LSP, and others.

State Fire Marshal deputies, with the help of ATF agents, are investigating the circumstances surrounding fires that have destroyed three churches in St. Landry Parish that have occurred since March 26^th. Fire Marshal Butch Browning says he’s calling upon citizens to rally around those impacted.
