A tropical wave is projected to move from south of Florida into the northeastern Gulf of Mexico by this weekend.  National Weather Service Slidell meteorologist Gavin Phillips says there is only a medium chance for development.

Phillips says expect the first impacts to be felt late Saturday with the heaviest rainfall on Sunday.

The survey of 500 chronic voters conducted last week has Edwards at 47-percent, and Republican challengers Ralph Abraham at 24-percent and Eddie Rispone at 16-percent. Pollster Bernie Pinsonat conducted the survey

Pinsonat says 30-percent of white voters support Edwards, while 14-percent are undecided.

He says another factor in the race is that Abraham and Rispone do not have a lot of support in metro New Orleans and the Baton Rouge area and that’s not good for Rispone, who lives in the capital city

Pinsonat says the key to Edwards winning re-election without the need of a runoff is to hold on to the white voters that currently plan to vote for him on the October 12th ballot

A poll by Alcohol.org shows Saints and Raiders fans are the heaviest drinkers on game day, downing on average 4.5 alcoholic beverages when their teams play.

Haley, a veteran New Orleans bartender, thinks that sounds about right. She says that number is likely the result of the region’s drinking culture combining with businesses fighting to get game-day customers.

50 percent of Saints fans named beer their go-to gameday drink, followed by 30 percent who said it was cocktails or straight liquor.

Saints fans also reported a 54 percent increase in the amount they drink on gamedays relative to a normal day, but Haley says due to New Orleans fans’ experience with alcohol, things tend to not get out of hand.

Saints fans reported the largest increase in gameday drinking, followed by Jets and Bills fans.

Working near the Superdome, Haley says the biggest game day drinking issues don’t come from Saints fans, but from visitors who overindulge on the city’s stiff drinks and become a problem.

Taylor is Brown’s former trainer and in a federal lawsuit, Taylor claims she was sexually assaulted three times over a two-year period. LSU QB Joe Burrow is in the Heisman conversation after putting up 749 yards and nine touchdowns through just two games.  Burrow saw his odds rise from 200 to 1 to five to one with some oddsmakers after dissecting Texas. USA Today beat reporter Glenn Guilbeau says Burrow has a real shot.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning is commemorating the anniversary of 9/11 by seeking donations to construct a museum to house the Spirit of Louisiana fire truck that was built by donations and sent to New York following the attacks.Browning says the truck has a history of not only serving the people of New York but also the people of New Orleans.

A fire truck that served in New York following 9/11 and New Orleans following Katrina is getting a new home with donations from the public. Kevin Barnhart has the story.

A Marksville police officer has been arrested for alleged illegally downloading personal data from a police database in Mansura and giving it to someone else for non-law enforcement purposes. 33-year-old Torrick Friels was charged with malfeasance and misuse of the database. State Police have not provided details of what data was retrieved. Friels is now out on bond.

Parents who have lost their driver’s license due to back child support payments only have three weeks left to correct the issue as part of the “On the Road Again” project. Department of Children and Families Regional Administrator for Child Support Enforcement Sandra Broussard says so far, the project has resulted in 140 people getting their license back.

According to the National Hurricane Center there’s a system in the Atlantic they are watching with a 60 percent chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next five days. If so it looks like it will move across South Florida and possibly into the Gulf. Regardless of its development, it will produce heavy rainfall and gusty winds across the Dorian battered Bahamas tomorrow and across Florida this weekend.

DCFS is offering a second chance for parents who’ve had their driver’s license revoked for back child support, but they only have three weeks.

The US Census says Louisiana’s Uninsured rate has dropped it’s at 8 percent while the national rate increased, it’s 8.9 percent. The Governor’s office that’s due to Medicaid expansion. 19-thousand fewer Louisianans were uninsured in 2018 compared to 2017.

A Haughton man has been arrested on charges that he had sexual relations with juveniles and solicited minors over the internet the past several years. Bossier sheriff’s spokesperson Bill Davis says the office is glad the victim came forward, and it’s important that law enforcement create a welcoming environment for juvenile victims. He says their work with the Gingerbread House is a good example.
