It will be a warm day today, but a strong cold front is coming. We will see widespread showers later today and after the rain moves out, winds will shift out of the north at 15 to 20 miles per hour. Temperatures will drop below 30-degrees north of I-20. It will be even colder Tuesday night as temps will fall into the mid-20s in south Lousiana on Wednesday morning.

Ruston receives a 17-million dollar federal transportation grant to transform the city’s connection with Louisiana Tech. Mayor Ronny Walker says the money will go towards building seamless transition of streets, bike paths, and walkways leading from downtown Ruston to the Tech campus.

The complaints are piling up over the new Louis Armstrong International Aiport in Kenner. Passengers were frustrated yesterday over the long lines at the T-S-A security checkpoint. One person told the Advocate it was a mass sea of humanity. Traffic getting in and the out of the airport has also been a problem.

The Saints were expected to extend to their winning streak to seven games yesterday, instead, the one and seven Falcons upset New Orleans 26-9 in a game where Quarterback Drew Brees was sacked six times. The running game also struggled, just 52 yards rushing. Brees says they executed poorly…

The Saints were just 3 of 12 on third downs and they were penalized 12 times.

New Orleans still has a two-game lead for first place in the N-F-C South with a seven and two record. Second-place Carolina lost in Green Bay 24 to 16. The Saints are third in N-F-C standings, the Packers are second and San Francisco is number one. The 49ers host Seattle tonight.

LSU’s win over Alabama was the most-watched college football game of the season. C-B-S says an average of 16-million viewers watched the game and viewership peaked at 20-million.

Every college football team from Louisana who was in action on Saturday won. Louisiana Tech had a homecoming victory over North Texas, ULM had a big win over Georgia State.

Nicholls and Southeastern Lousiana both won and they are part of a four-team tie for first place in the Southland. Grambling knocked off Alcorn State for its fifth win in a row. If the Tigers win their final two games, including the Bayou Classic, they’ll win the SWAC West division.

The Saints took a step backwards yesterday as the one and seven Atlanta Falcons defeated New Orleans 26 to 9 in one of the biggest upsets in the NFL this year.

LSU brings an explosive offense to Tuscaloosa this afternoon in the hopes of snapping an eight game losing streak to Alabama. The Crimson Tide shutout the Tigers last season in Baton Rouge, but Coach Ed Orgeron says they have a much better offense now…

Love was in the air at Longway Tavern in New Orleans last night as Saints Coach Sean Payton reportedly proposed to his longtime girlfriend Skylene Montgomery during a private party. The proposal apparently came as a surprise to the former Miss West Virginia USA, who thought she was attending a toast for the 15th wedding anniversary of Saints owner Gayle Benson and her husband Tom.

Ruston has secured a 17.2-million-dollar federal grant to connect the city to the Louisiana Tech campus with smart corridors. The grant will fund smart city technology along new streets, bike and walking paths. U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy announced the U.S. Department of Transportation grant for Ruston that will embed sensors that provide real-time data for traffic, parking and create a network to develop self-driving cars.

New Orleans has a contract in hand from the Hard Rock hotel developers to begin removing the compromised structure that sits right on the iconic Canal Street.

Structural Engineer Kerwin Julien says the unique infrastructure challenges of New Orleans will make the process lengthy, and expensive because traditional options are not on the table.

Governor Edwards’ campaign is highlighting recent tweets from the White House touting the success of the Louisiana economy, a sentiment that runs counter to local Republican messaging.

Tomorrow is the final day of early voting.  Prior to the final two days of the early voting period, Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin says more than 300,000 ballots have been cast for the runoff races thus far.

The Advocate reports that New Orleans State Senator Wesley Bishop is charged for allegedly making a false statement to a federal agency. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Friday that Bishop is charged for making false statements HUD. The statements involve Bishop claiming “phantom” rental tenants to HUD.

So far the LSU demand is trending this year ticket wise as well.
