The state is on a six-day streak of COVID hospitalization decreases, down today by 16 to 1,471. Ventilator usage is down by 17 to 223. Nearly 1500 new cases were reported, bringing the state’s total to just shy of 126-thousand. Total fatalities: 3978, an increase of 41.

Initially set for early September that date will now, tentatively, be at least October 8^th, with an eight game season in the works. A study published in the Lancet medical Journal shows 13-16 percent of all cancer patients who come down with COVID-19 will die within 30 days of their diagnosis. LSU Health Clinical Medicine Professor Suki Subbiah (Sue-Bye-uh) helped author the study and says there are likely a number of reasons why cancer patients are so much more vulnerable than the general population.
