Detective Stephen Arnold worked on a DEA Task Force and was shot multiple times while serving a warrant in New Orleans. Sheriff Joe Lopinto says Arnold was under intense medical care until he died. The suspect is serving 35 years in federal prison.

A 32-year-old Delhi man is dead after his mid-sized SUV rear-ended a tractor-trailer, lodged underneath, and caught fire. State Police say Ian Petit was killed shortly after 6:30 Sunday night on Interstate 20 near Holly Ridge. Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer truck was not injured in the crash.

The Louisiana Department of Health has issued an alert for healthcare providers in the Alexandria area over a significant increase in the number of new syphilis cases. Region Six Medical Director Dr. David Holcombe says the number of early syphilis cases among women was up 62 percent from 2019 to 2020…

The Caddo Parish sheriff’s office says an experimental aircraft crashed into Cross Lake yesterday afternoon in Shreveport killing the sole occupant, Fred Phillips. Investigators say small plane took off from Shreveport Regional Airport and lasted in the air for about nine minutes.

The Rayne Police Department says they’ve arrested 41-year-old Scott Cooper of Church Point for fatally shooting a 17-year-old last Sunday. Cooper is facing one count of second-degree murder. The teenage victim was found in his vehicle. Family and friends have identified him as Garrison Gautreaux, a student at Notre Dame High School. Police have not released a motive.

Governor Edwards announces a $30-million buyout program for Greinwich Terrace in Lake Charles, a neighborhood that has flooded three times over the past four years. Police Jury President Brian Abshire says the buyout program is optional as the state understands relocating and leaving your home is difficult…

Governor Edwards says the state is considering implementing a vaccine incentive program similar to efforts in other states. Governor Edwards announces a $30-million buyout program for a Calcasieu Parish neighborhood that has flooded on multiple occasions. Police Jury President Brian Abshire says the funds will be used to purchase homes at fair market value in the Greinwich Terrance neighborhood of Lake Charles.

Breeze Airways will begin offering cheap direct flights out of Louis Armstrong in New Orleans into ten mid sizes cities across the Midwest and South. CEO David Neeleman, who founded Jet Blue, says the flights are inexpensive and often take less than two hours to get to their destination.
