State Police is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that took place yesterday morning in St. John the Baptist Parish. L-S-P says deputies responded to 9-1-1 calls of a vehicle partially submerged in the marsh near I-10 and U-S 51 and when the officers approached the vehicle, an encounter occurred and one deputy shot 20-year-old Jacoby Williams of Gramercy who is in critical condition. An A-K 47 style firearm and handgun were recovered from the scene.

In Caddo Parish two juveniles have been arrested after threats against C.E. Byrd High School. Deputies say a 16-year-old from another high school in Shreveport threatened a school shooting on Byrd’s campus and another social media post by a 17-year-old from Byrd High School also threatened to blow up the school. Both teens were booked into the Caddo Parish Detention Center.

It’s believed 83-year-old Marvin Stephens of Prairieville who confessed to shooting and killing his 75-year-old wife Patricia Wednesday may have dementia. Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Donovan Jackson says they are not sure what motivated the shooting and it’s a tragic situation for everyone involved.

The National Weather Service confirms a massive tornado tore through Madison Parish on Wednesday. NWS meteorologist Alan Campbell says the tornado strengthened as it struck Tallulah Academy, tearing apart the school in several areas from the main building to its ballpark and fencing.

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit from a death row inmate challenging the constitutionality of Louisiana’s execution methods. Judge Shelly Dick ruled that since Louisiana is not able to obtain the drugs needed to carry out an execution, there was nothing to settle. Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry is glad the death penalty litigation was dismissed

The vehicle belonging to Ella Goodie of Lafayette has been located in St. Joseph, Missouri. 32-year old Goodie has been missing since March 9^th.  State Police and the FBI are asking anyone with information about her possible whereabouts to contact them. Brandon Francisco who was scheduled to appear in court in Rapides Parish was the last person to have come in contact with her, he was arrested March 25^th in Missouri for outstanding warrants.

The LSU Tigers evened their series with Auburn by taking down the War Eagles nine to two last night. The Bayou Bengals erupted for five runs in the seventh inning. Jordan Thompson and Dylan Crews each drove in two runs and Ma’Khail Hilliard struck out seven for his third win of the season.

Louisiana Tech struck out 11 times and lost to Southern Miss eight to two. The Golden Eagles move into sole possesion of first place in Conference USA, one game ahead of the Bulldogs. The same two teams play again today at 2 PM.

The Ragin Cajuns doubled up Sun Belt Conference co-leader Georgia Southern six to three. UL-Lafayette scored three runs in the eighth inning to snap a three-three tie. The Cajuns have won three in a row.

Lebron James scored 38 points but the Pelicans still overcame a five-point fourth quarter deficit to drain the Lakers 114 to 111. The Final Four tips off tonight in the Mercedes Benz Superdome. The first game is Kansas versus Villanova just after 5 PM today and the second game is North Carolina versus Duke. Each team has won multip national championships and it’s the first time A-C-C rivals Duke and North Carolina have played each other in the NCAA Tournament.

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit from a death row inmate challenging the constitutionality of Louisiana’s execution methods; a win for Attorney General Jeff Landry. In 2018, Landry drafted proposed legislation that would expand the methods of execution and confidentiality protections for those who supply the means of execution. He says he’s willing to discuss these proposals again with state lawmakers so the carrying out of death sentences can resume.
