Beginning Wednesday morning eligible Entergy customers can apply for a one-time $150 credit on their bill. Entergy spokesperson David Freese says they’ve pledged $4.4 million, and the United Way is helping them with the application process, To see if you are eligible visit the bill pay section on Entergy’s website.
For example, the total household income for a family of four cannot exceed $69,000.
Documents you’ll need include a photo ID and proof of income like your 2021 tax return or last paystub. Janet Darden, President of the United Way of Northeast Louisiana says they’re aware of the struggles some are facing in paying their utility bill…
The $150 credit for eligible customers is on a first come first serve basis and the application process opens Wednesday at 9 AM.
In addition to this program, Freese says there are other programs like Power to Care and the Low Entergy Assistance Program for customers who need assistance with their bill.

Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory is back from a three-week stay at an in-patient rehab facility in Texas. In his first news conference since his return, he said it was hard for him to ask for help.
Guillory said he was treated for alcoholism and post-traumatic stress disorder. He offered a hand to veterans suffering from untreated PTSD and to anyone struggling with alcohol abuse.

Guillory pointed out that alcoholism is a disease, yet he fought attempts to temporarily replace him with an interim administrator while he was at an in-patient facility. He insisted he was available via phone and email.
Guillory said twenty-one days is just the beginning and this is a lifelong process for him

The state supreme court’s rejection to hear an appeal challenging the ban on abortion in Louisiana forces the closure of the three remaining clinics. Kathaleen Pittman Director of the Hope Medical Center for Women in Shreveport says she’s not sure what’s next for her clinic.
During the uncertainty of the last eight weeks, Pittman says she has received widespread support from the community, and it’s much appreciated.
Even though the doors of the Hope Medical Center have closed, Pittman says she’ll continue to provide services for women even though she’s not sure where that will be just yet and she remains inspired.

A Lake Charles woman is facing second-degree murder charges because her six-month-old daughter died after she left the little girl in the car. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Stitch Guillory says it’s a very sad situation.
Guillory says the mother, 22-year-old Ivy Lee of Lake Charles, is charged with second-degree murder. He says this isn’t the first incident involving Lee and her children.
