Loyola University Law Professor Dane Ciolino believes the Biden Administration’s student loan forgiveness plan will end up in court. He says it’s an overreach of executive power and it’s Congress that decides how funds are appropriated and then it’s passed onto the executive branch for signature.

He expects Republicans will file suit against the student loan forgiveness very soon if they haven’t already.

Covington Senator Patrick McMath believes the agency needs a complete overhauled but doesn’t expect that to happen under the current administration.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the person accused of stabbing a deputy after breaking into a bank in Moss Bluff. They say 45-year-old Angela Rachelle Bertrand of Lake Charles was booked Monday on numerous charges. The deputy involved only received minor injuries in the incident.

The legislative auditor’s office releases a report that shows Louisiana’s 20-cent gasoline tax is not able to keep up with the state’s 15-billion dollar backlog on road and bridge construction needs. Louisiana Transportation Secretary Shawn Wilson says the audit notes that other states use a variety of transportaiton funding sources, including vehicle fees, tolls and even cigarette taxes…

State Police say they are investigating an officer involved shooting in which a Houma cop reportedly shot one subject overnight. They say that individual was transported to a hospital with injuries. Investigators say no law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident and this is an active investigation.
