The state Office of Juvenile Justice has moved the juvenile offenders that were housed at a temporary facility at Angola to a new juvenile justice facility that opened this summer in Jackson Parish. The decision to relocate the youths comes after a federal judge ordered the state to move them to another facility, because of how they were treated at Angola. The body of a missing Vermilion Parish woman has been found and her boyfriend has been arrested. An autopsy will determine how 49-year-old Bobbie Jo Saltzman died. Her 34-year-old boyfriend David Smith, originally from New Iberia, has been charged with hit and run and further charges are pending.

That’s coastal resources scientist manager with LDWF Matt Weigel, who says 300-thousand birds also rely on the islands during the course of the year. But he says the Chandeleur Islands are disappearing and design plans to restore the islands are underway.

New campaign finance numbers released today show Republican Jeff Landry with a huge lead over his opponents in campaign dollars. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says Democrat Shawn Wilson has just 879-thousand dollars on hand.

Wildlife officials are encouraged by successful hatchings of the endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtle on the Chandeleur Islands, which is off the southeastern coast of Louisiana. Donelon says SafePoint Insurance Company identified over 19 thousand Citizens policies that could be switched over to a private insurer.

After 45 years of service to Louisiana Tech, President Dr. Les Guice has announced he will retire at the end of the year.  Guice has served as President for the last 10 years. Among the biggest challenges Guice faced as president was the 2019 tornado that destroyed several buildings on campus.

A federal judge ruled last week that they must be transferred to a juvenile detention facility, because they are not getting rehabilitation they need at Angola.
