Cameron Parish Assistant Administrator Darrell Williams says they are elated for the visit.

A St. Mary parish Councilman was arrested and booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on stalking and narcotics charges. 50-year-old James Bennet was arrested earlier this year for stalking, but Berwick Police say he continued to stalk the same victim even after the initial arrest, which led to a warrant for search of his apartment, and the seizure of steroids and electronic devices.

Assistant State Health Officer Dr. Joe Kanter says measles vaccine misinformation and myths are putting people at risk, adding myths such as vaccines being a cause for autism and containing mercury are not true.

A bill to abolish the death penalty in the state met its demise on the Senate floor, despite the argument from New Orleans Senator JP Morrell who says the death sentence in Louisiana has had a history of multiple exonerations over the years.

The Louisiana Department of Health is emphasizing the importance of immunizations in the wake of the nationwide measles outbreak. Assistant State Health Officer Dr. Joe Kanter says while there have not been any reported cases in the state so far, over 760 cases have been reported in other states.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban will sit down for an hour long Q&A session at Grambling today at the Eddie G. Robinson Museum. Grambling Sports Information Director Brian Howard says the museum has previously honored Saban with the Eddie G. Robinson award, named after the legendary Grambling coach.

Howard says Saban was honored to be invited to speak at Robinson’s 100th anniversary event.
