It’s been a tough season for the Pelicans, but the highlight play of the year for the Pels occurred last night when guard Devonte Graham made a 61-foot bank shot at the buzzer to give New Orleans a 113 to 110 win against Oklahoma City. New Orleans is 9-and-21 on the season.

The state health department is reporting 48 additional cases of the Omicron variant of COVID 19, bringing the total number of Omicron cases in Louisiana to 93, most of them in the Greater New Orleans area.

Officials have identified the pilot of a helicopter who died when his chopper crashed on the I-10 Bonnet Carre Spillway in St. Charles Parish. His name is 42-year-old Joshua Hawley of Denham Springs. He was a father of three young children and 13-year U-S Marine Corps veteran.

First-year U-L Lafayette Coach Michael Desormeaux signed eight players. One of those signees is Madison Prep Quarterback Zeon Chriss who led the Chargers to a Class 3A state championship in 2020. Desormeaux says Chriss is more than just an athletic quarterback …

The rule will go into effect for the next school year and it would only pertain to ages that have FDA approval for COVID vaccines, which is 16 and up. Lafayette City Court Judge Michelle Odinet is facing calls for her to step down after a video taken from her home shows several people using the “N” word while watching a video of an attempted burglary on their property. Odinet says she was sedated at the time of the video and has zero recollection of the video and the disturbing language used in it.
