COVID will not stop Jazz Fest in New Orleans this year as the two-weekend spring music festival has announced they are returning after a two-year hiatus. Jazz Fest producer and director Quint Davis says this year’s top headliners are The Who, Foo Fighters, Jimmy Buffett, Lionel Richie, Willie Nelson, and dozens more. Davis says a number of artists planned their other shows AROUND being at Jazz Fest’s big return…

Radar indicates freezing drizzle is falling in south Louisiana from Morgan City to Hammond. No major accumulations have been reported.

Louisiana is also dealing with its coldest air of the winter as overnight temperatures over the next few days will dip below the freezing mark. Even the Houma-Thibodaux area could see lows in the mid-20s this weekend. The state has reported ten home fire deaths this year and Governor John Bel Edwards doesn’t want to see any more…

On Sunday, Tampa Bay hosts the Los Angeles Rams. Former LSU Tiger and Bucs running back Leonard Fournette has returned to practice. Tampa Bay offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich says they’ll have a better idea after today if Fournette will play. He hasn’t played since December 19th because of an injured hamstring.

Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen will reportedly for the Chicago Bears head coaching job next week. And former Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz has found a new job as he’s been named the new head coach for the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions, which begins play in April.

The Pelicans finished off a three-game road trip with a solid 102-91 win over the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden last night. The Pels shot 50-percent from the field and six players scored in double figures led by Jonas Valancinuas who had 18 points and 10 rebounds. New Orleans will return to the hardwood on Monday when they host Indiana.

The 13th ranked LSU men’s basketball team returns to action tomorrow when they visit 24th ranked Tennessee. The Tigers are looking to snap a two-game skid.

Louisiana Tech will look to stay undefeated when they host Conference USA rival UAB at 3 PM inside the Thomas Assembly Center.

In action last night, the Ragain Cajuns dropped their third straight as they fell to South Alabama 77-70, ULM also lost at home as they Sun Belt leader Troy 73-66.

UNO is off a 2-and-0 start in the Sun Belt as the Privateers won their fifth straight knocking off Southeastern Louisiana 78-72 as Troy Green had 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Pierce Spencer poured in 20 points as Nicholls defended its home floor by beating Northwestern State 69-58.

After three years of work, and at a cost of $150 million, the new terminal at Lafayette Regional Airport officially opened to the public today. Executive Director Steven Picou couldn’t be happier with today’s debut.

Picou says the $150 million dollar facility was completed in three years, on-time and on budget.

A local one-cent sales tax collected in 2015 along with federal and state funding paid for the new terminal that has 966 parking spots, two screening lines, five departure and arrival gates and a new baggage handling system.

A voting rights bill that Democrats and civil rights leaders say is needed to protect democracy fails in the U-S Senate. Republicans oppose the legislation. Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy says this effort isn’t about protecting the right to vote, it’s about Democrats wanting to federalize elections to their advantage…

Tough loss for the 13th ranked LSU men’s basketball team as they lost their fifth straight game to Alabama falling to the Crimson Tide 70-67 at Coleman Coliseum last night. LSU trailed by 13 points with about eight minutes left, but the Tigers put together a rally after a technical foul was called on coach Will Wade, who complained that Alabama was not called for goaltending on a layup by Eric Gaines

ULM basketball hosts first-place Troy in a Sunbelt Conference showdown tonight. The Warhawks snapped a two-game losing streak with a big win at UT-Arlington last Saturday, with only seven players on the roster due to COVID-19. State transportation officials say 2021 set a new record-high for highway fatalities. Nearly a thousand people died on state roadways last year; topping the previous record of 993, set in 2007. State Transportation Secretary Shawn Wilson says the 2021 total of 997 fatalities is up 20-percent over last year
