Quarterback Derek Carr was five of six on that drive. The first team offense averaged nearly five yards a carry last night led by Jamaal Williams who had five carries for 32 yards.

Another bright spot from last night’s game was the pressure the Saints put on 49er quarterbacks. Chase Young had a couple of quarterback hurries and Carl Granderson recorded a sack.

The Saints will hold a practice at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium tomorrow night.

LSU football coach Brian Kelly says the Tigers have been able to cut down on giving up big plays during this preseason camp. Kelly says the development of the cornerbacks has been a key. He says they have five players rotating at defensive tackle led by Jacobian Guillory. Kelly says when he first arrived at LSU, Guillory was not a good player…

The Jennings Police Department is charging the mother of a ten-month old child that was left in a hot car for an hour and a half last week with second-degree murder and one count of cruelty to juveniles. Thirty-two-year-old Hannah Faith Cormier was arrested yesterday. Details on what led to the charges are expected to be discussed during a press conference today held by Jennings Police Chief Danny Semmes.

State Police says 40-year-old Joshua Nicholas of Lake Charles was killed in an offshore pipeline explosion on Saturday night that occurred in a marsh area near Venice in Plaquemines Parish. Nicholas was operating on a mud boat near the pipeline when it exploded. A cause of the explosion is not known.

CABL monitored Louisiana’s progress in five areas: economy, which showed a decline; health and wellbeing, which also declined; infrastructure, which largely improved; environment and energy, which was a mixed bag; and education, which Erwin says improved a lot…

16 indicators are trending downwards, compared to 13 last year, and 7 were down for two years in a row. Plus, 16 are trending upwards compared to 18 last year. Erwin says the best way to improve these numbers is to create policy to address problem areas like the economy and healthcare…

The Saints will face the 49ers in San Francisco on Sunday night in preseason game number two. Coach Dennis Allen declined to say if the starters will play. Starting left tackle Taliese Fuaga (Tah-lee-ess-say Foo-ah-gah) did not practice on Friday. But Allen says his back tightness issue should not keep him from being ready to play in the regular season opener.

Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed is the latest injury issue. Allen says he has either a toe or foot injury. Running back Alvin Kamara also remains sidelined with an injury and the team says it has not thing to do with Kamara wanting a contract extension.

There’s a good chance we’ll see rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler play on Sunday. Rattler will look to improve on his performance from the preseason opener…

Rattler was 9 of 17 for 70 yards against the Cardinals last weekend. Kick-off in San Fran on Sunday is at 7 PM.

Scary situation earlier today when a fire started in a classroom at Ruby-Wise Elementary School in Pineville. The Rapides Parish School Board says all of the students evacuated safely and are all accounted for. Officials say an electrical issue caused the blazed.

The state department of transportation says preliminary construction activities can begin this year on a new two-point-three billion dollar I-10 Lake Charles bridge. Project manager Paul Vaught says the Landry administration put a financing plan in place earlier this year that received legislative approval and the bonds have been sold…
