But between 800 to 1,000 homes sustained flood damage in Calcasieu Parish from Tropical Storm Harvey. Calcasieu’s Director of Homeland Secuirty and Emergency Preparedness, Dick Gremillion, says many of the homes have been gutted out….

The Edwards administration has started the legal process to remove BRF as the operator of the state’s safety net hospitals in Monroe and Shreveport. Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says a letter has been sent to Shreveport-based BRF that gives them 45 days to correct various problems….

Dardenne says the state has spoken with Ochsner Health System and the New Orleans based hospital company could help BRF run the hospitals or possibly replace BRF.

After 9-11 , former Governor Mike Foster started the “Bucks for Trucks” campaign, where Louisianans donated money to purchase a new truck for the New York City Fire Department. Enough money was raised to build four firetrucks at Ferrera Fire Apparatus in Livingston Parish. Former owner, Chris Ferrera, says all of the trucks are still in use 16 years later…:

Kaplan Police Chief Boyd Adams has posted bail since he was arrested by State Police on theft and malfeasance in office charges. The arrest was the result of a legislative auditor’s investigation that looked into 19-thousand dollars in police department funds. Auditor Roger Harris….

A Christmas tree farm owner in St. Tammany is trying to figure out who’s killing trees on his property. He says the vandalism has happened about 20 times over the years. Clarke Gernon owns Shady Pond Tree Farm in Pearl River and says it’s been difficult for him to express to law enforcement the idea that these are more than just trees…:

A popular bar for LSU students to attend is apologizing after pictures surfaced on social media that showed a noose hanging from the ceiling and cups with a Blue Confederate flag on them were handed out to patrons. Reggie’s Bar issued a statement that says they apologize to anyone offended.

Tropical Storm Irma is weakening as it moves over north Florida, which will allow Louisiana response recovery teams to move in. The State Fire Marshal’s office along with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are sending rescue teams. National Guard is also sending an engineering company to conduct repairs on infrasture needs.
