The suspect is in police custody.

A state of emergency has been called in the city of Tallulah and Madison Parish because residents are without drinking water as a result of busting pipes from the cold weather. Local leaders anticipated that bottled water would arrive in Tallulah this afternoon and a water buffalo was also heading to the Tallulah Madison Community Center.

State Police is asking for the public’s help to find 17-year-old Teondre Wright, who escpaed from the Swanson Center for Youth in Monroe on Tuesday night. They believe he’s in the New Orleans and considered to be possibly armed and dangerous.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning is asking all residents to be extra careful with space heaters after another home fire in Baton Rouge killed three people early this morning….

Browning says a space heater should not be plugged into an extension cord and it should be the only source of energy into an outlet. Browning says 16 people have died statewide in house fires since Christmas. Space heaters and no smoke detectors have been factors in most of these deaths.

According to the Associated Press, Governor John Bel Edwards and House Speaker Taylor Barras are set to meet on Monday to continue budget negotiations. Edwards has called for a January 19th deadline with House Republican leaders on a plan to address a looming one-billion dollar budget deficit.

President Donald Trump is proposing to open most U-S Coastal waters to oil and gas drilling. The plan is receiving criticism from Democrats and environmental groups who fear the expansion could lead to another disaster like the 2010 BP oil spill. But Republican U-S Senator Bill Cassidy says the concerns are unfounded…

House fires statewide have claimed 16 lives since Christmas according to State Fire Marshal Butch Browning.  This morning, Baton Rouge firefighters battled a blaze that killed at least three people.  Browning says space heaters are the cause of many of these fires…

The Department of the Interior has submitted a proposal to open up offshore drilling in federal waters off the coast of most of the US. This program would allow drilling outside of the zone currently restricted to the western and central Gulf of Mexico. Senator Bill Cassidy says the 30-year drilling moratorium has cost the country thousands of good jobs…

The state Workforce Commission estimates Over 50,000 Louisianans are employed by the oil industry. Cassidy says that number could balloon under the new proposal…

That’s keeping Saints retailers busy as fan flock to stores to buy jerseys, banners, party plates, and everything else black and gold. The Trump administration would like to see drilling occur from the Atlantic to the Artic oceans. The Saints meet their division rival Carolina on Sunday in an NFC Wildcard matchup. New Orleans has won seven straight inside the Dome. Saints Sideline reporter Kristian Garic says the fans made a difference when New Orleans beat Atlanta on Christmas Eve to clinch a playoff spot and they should be ramped up even more this Sunday….

Before the Saints playoff game on Sunday, it’s the Bills versus the Jaguars in an AFC wildcard matchup. Former LSU Tiger Leonard Fournette has purchased rolex watches for his offensive linemen. Fournette rushed for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns during his rookie season.

LSU atheltics director Joe Alleva says they expected other schools to come after defensive coordinator Dave Aranda and he says they were ready to put a plan in place to keep Aranda, who has signed a contract extension. Alleva added that keeping Aranda is a step for the future of the program.

Now the next order of business is to resolve the situation involving offensive coordinator Matt Canada. The Advocate reports Canada’s representatives and LSU are deep into negotiations that would allow Canada to coach somewhere else this season. Canada signed a three-year deal in December of 2016 and the school owes him just over three-million dollars to buy out the remainder of his contract.

In college basketball…the Ragin Cajuns moved to 3-0 in the Sun Belt with a 78-45 win over Appalachian State. ULM got its first conference win of the year by beating Coastal Carolina 82-72, Louisiana Tech fell to 0-3 in Conference USA with a two-point loss to U-T-S-A and Tulane rallied to beat SMu 73-70.

Officials say three people are dead, two are in critical condition following another tragic home fire. This one was in Baton Rouge. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says 16 people have died in home fires since the Christmas holiday and space heaters are to blame for many of these deaths….

Since 2001, there have been 16 times the team that won both regular season games faced that same team in the playoffs, and the team went 2-0 in 11 of those 16 games.

Now that LSU has locked up LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda to a reported four-year deal, the school is reportedly in talks with Matt Canada on a deal that ends his time in Baton Rouge, two years before his contract ends. Canada has three-million dollars left on the three-year deal he signed last year.

The UL-Lafayette basketball team improved to 3-0 in the Sun Belt with an easy 78-45 win over Appalachian State. The Cajuns outscored the Mountaineers 46-17 in the first half. Bryce Washington had a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds.

ULM earned its first Sun Belt win as the Warhawks flew past Coastal Carolina 82-72. Sam McDaniel led the way with 28 points as he was a perfect six-for-six from three-point territory.

Despite 24 points from Jacobi Boykins, Louisiana Tech fell to UT San Antonio 78-76. The Bulldogs have lost five games by four points or less and they are 9-7 on the year.

Also last night, Tulane lost to SMU. The LSU Lady Tigers won their eighth straight as they upset 15th ranked Missouri 69-65.

And Grambling’s Shakyla Hill recorded the fourth quadruple-double in NCAA Division One Women’s basketball history as she had 15 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals in a 22 point win over Alabama State.

The 96th Louisiana State Police cadet class will graduate today with 27 men and women being assigned to the ten different troops around the state.  Sgt. Jared Sandifer says the new troopers will help drivers throughout the Bayou State…

This was the first time in many years that LSP conducted two cadet classes at the same time.  As the 96th is wrapping up, the 97th class began their over 20 week training program with much larger class.  Sandifer says there are many who want to have a career in law enforcement…

Even though nothing is scheduled yet, Sandifer says they are looking to begin recruiting for the 98th class…

The Discovery Channel has signed “Out Da’ Bayou” for 13 episodes after five years on CST and the Sportsman Channel. Host John Jackson says the show puts you right in the middle of some of the toughest jobs in the state, like catching swordfish…
