The Pelicans won for a fifth time in six tries last night as they rallied to beat Atlanta 106-105. New Orleans has relied a lot on Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins, but last night it was E-Twaun Moore who led the team in scoring with 24 points and Darius Miller added a career-high 21 points, including 14 in the 4th quarter.

Big overtime win for Louisiana Tech last night as the Bulldogs beat Southeast Missouri 96-95 in overtime. Jalen Harris and DaQuan Bracey combined to score 46 points. Also last night, Tulane topped Southeastern Louisiana 89-66.

An East Feliciana Parish Grand jury has formally charged Ryan Sharpe for multiple shootings that resulted in two fatalities and the injuring of a third man. Sharpe will be arraigned on November 28th and he’s also accused of fatally shooting an East Baton Rouge Parish man. Court documents say Sharpe confessed to the crimes.

According to a recent survey, Louisianans are researching butt implants more than any other plastic surgery procedure. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at LSU Health New Orleans Dr. Oren Tessler says having a bigger behind is the latest trend, especially with celebrities.

Expectations of a bumper pecan crop in Louisiana this year have been lowered due to unfavorable weather, but that shouldn’t affect your pies for the holidays. That’s according to LSU AgCenter Associate Professor Charlie Graham, who says their original projection for this year was around 15 million pounds of pecans…:

Governor John Bel Edwards announced today that two-thousand new jobs will be created as DXC Technology will open a digital transformation center in January of 2018 in New Orleans. Edwards says this has been in the works for over two years and is a great addition to the state.

DXC is a Virginia based information technology company. Edwards says LED estimates that another 2,257 indirect jobs will be created from this project. He says the two-thousand direct jobs will pay an average salary of 63-thousand dollars plus benefits and the economic benefits are unmatched.

Edwards says Louisiana will invest $25 million in higher education grants through the LSU, UL, and Technical and Community College Systems to ensure qualified workers can fill these new positions. Governor John Bel Edwards says Virginia-based DXC Technology will open a New Orleans office that will employ two-thousand people. Officials are calling it the single largest jobs announcement in the city’s modern history. An exact location for the facility has yet to be decided, but it will be downtown. Average salaries of for those working there will be 63-thousand dollars.

Nicholls will visit Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday night. The Colonels beat Stephen F Austin 34-14 last Saturday. Freshman Tahj Smith had 177 yards rushing on 23 carries as the Colonels had 418 yards on the ground. Nicholls defensive lineman Kenny Dotson had 3.5 sacks.

This week, two years from now, voters will cast their ballots for Louisiana’s next governor. Current Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards is planning to run again. Pollster Bernie Pinsonat says Republican Attorney General Jeff Landry could challenge Edwards and tensions between the two continue to escalate. He says expect GOP leaders to keep attacking the governor on various issues.

The Edwards administration disputes the claim by Attorney General Jeff Landry that the expansion of the Medicaid program has helped fuel the opioid crisis. The state health department says there are fewer pain killers on the streets in the last year and more individuals are seeking life saving substance abuse treatment.  L-D-H Chief of Staff Andrew Tuozzollo says legislation passed this year that limits first time prescriptions for opioids has been effective…

Tuozzollo says the total number of pills prescribed has decreased by more than 10-million doses, a three-percent reduction from the year before Medicaid expansion to the year afterwards. He says Medicaid expansion has also helped thousands get treatment for addiction to painkillers…

Landry asserts that hundreds of thousands of new prescriptions have been provided to Louisiana patients in the past year at almost no cost, which has exacerbated the opioid crisis.
