Louisiana’s revenue shortfall has declined from 994-million to 648-million-dollars, as a result of the state collecting more income taxes due to the federal tax overhaul. House Speaker Taylor Barras says the extra money would likely go to higher ed and TOPS….

Winn Parish Sheriff’s deputies were met with gun fire when they were trying to serve a civil warrant in the small community of the Chee Chee Dam area yesterday afternoon. 71-year-old Betty Lemoine was killed by deputies who had just driven up to their home. State Police is also investigating, Trooper Scott Moreau.

Shots fired shortly afterwards, and Betty Lemoine was killed, while Kendall Lemoine was seriously injured. None of the deputies were hurt.

A Tulane study finds grade school students can benefit from yoga classes to help them manage stress and anxiety. Principal author Alessandra Bazzano (Ba-zon-no) says the New Orleans based third grade class was picked for the study since it is a crucial time of transition for them when academic expectations increase…

The Pelicans finished the regular season with a 122-98 win over San Antonio. Jrue (Drew) Holiday had 23 points, Anthony Davis had 22 and Nikola Mirotic (Knee-co-luh Mear-uh-tich) added 21 points. New Orleans record for the year is 48-34. And now the Pels will get ready for the playoffs. They will face the Trail Blazers in the first round. Game one will be in Portland this weekend.

Five-star forward Emmitt Williams has signed with the LSU Tigers, giving Coach Will Wade the third best recruiting class in the country according to 24-7 sports. Williams is considered an elite rebounder at six-foot-seven and he also gets to the line a lot.

In college baseball last night, the Ragin Cajuns outlasted Southeastern Louisiana 4-3 in 11 innings as Kennon Fontenot drove home the winning run with a two-out single. Nicholls scored 12 runs in the 1st inning and beat Alcorn State 18-0. Brady Bell homered and drove in four runs. And UNO defeated Southern seven to five.

The Saints are signing restricted free-agent wide receiver Cam Meredith. New Orleans offered him a two-year deal and the Chicago Bears, who control his rights, decided not to match the offer. Saints analyst Mike Detillier says Meredith gives the Black and Gold a big target in the red zone and on third downs

New Orleans area Congressman Steve Scalise’s name has popped up for consideration. Political analyst Clancy DuBos says if it were up to President Trump, Scalise would have the job.

The state Senate unanimously approved legislation requiring public schools to display “In God We Trust” in their buildings. The proposal also calls for educators to teach students about the motto. Schools would be required to have the motto displayed by the 2019-2020 school year. The measure heads to the House next.

The 25-year-old caught 66 passes for four touchdowns in 2016, but missed all of 2017 after tearing his A-C-L and M-C-L.

The Advocate newspaper reports the state Ethics Board has cleared four State Police troopers who were disciplined for taking a side trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon when they drove to a conference in San Diego. The ethics board says it was former State Police Superintendent Mike Edmonson who told them to make the over night stops.

New Orleans area Congressman Steve Scalise’s is considered a strong candidate. Political analyst Clancy DuBos says Scalise has as good a chance as anyone.

He is testifying before House Energy and Commerce Committee about a data breach affecting as many as 87-million Facebook users by a data firm with ties to President Trump’s campaign.   Kennedy says any trust that users placed in Facebook is no more after this incident…
